Steady blinking red light

.I am not a repair professional. I am a 78 year old man
who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. So the washer or dryer ID doesn't mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and found that more than 4,700 people were asking for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer repair of my own and at that time I found an excellent video which showed me how to take my machine apart. This video made it possible for me to do my own repair. If you are repairing a dryer or a front load washer I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good step by step trouble shooting and repair information on washers and dryers as well as other appliances. If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart this video is an early christmas present. I was so impressed with it that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about it. If you look at the back of your washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video is just what you need. You can see it at www.acmehowto.com You will probably still need help in determining what the trouble is and how to fix it. After viewing the video or if you have a v-belt drive rather than a direct drive, I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good
trouble shooting and repair nformation on most
washers and dryers. I think you'll find what you need
there. Don't worry about the timer, they hardly ever
go bad. Good luck with it. If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.

The lid has a safety cut out switch which prevents the unit from operating while the lid is in the open position. You need to locate this switch which is on the hinge side. Remove the control panel covers. The switch may just be loose or have a bad connection.

The washer doesnt spin the water out all the time

This could be the drain setup. It should be about the same height as the back of the washer, and should be a standpipe with a bigger diameter than the drain hose off the washer. Air should be able to circulate around the washer pipe. If the drain is up to high, it is a hard job for the washer to pump that water up. Also be sure there is no blockage in your drain.

I sent John Ray 7526 a new review of the problem

You can go to partselect.com and view the parts and numbers there if you'd like. It would be the easiest and best way to do it.

I have reviewed your problem and have the fallowing for you to aces.
First, if the unit starts a cycle, filling with water and spinning with no agitation, you have a problem with the transmission.
Sounds like the clutch is not properly engaging and if this is the case it usually means it has to be replaced.
Please be aware, this could be a costly repair and you may want to replace the unit instead of having it repaired.
Let me know if you need more infomation.
Please rate.....

Machine takes perhaps 45 min to fill with just hot

On mine I turned off the water and removed the hose off the machine. I looked at the washer where the hose connects and it has a little screen to filter the incoming water. It was cloged with white stuff. I picked the screen out and cleaned it.
Maybe yours is the same thing.
Also I hooked a garden hose to the supply water and let it run full open to help flush anything from the water line.

Need a new belt. Where do i look for one and about

Replacement parts can be purchased on line at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

You can use whatever parts source you like, but these sites I have found to be the most reliable and provide great service. Prices vary between sites, so shop all of them for the best bargain. The first three sites listed have helpful exploded view parts locator diagrams to assist with part identification and assembly.

If you do not wish to order on line, use the part numbers from one of the websites and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. A drive belt is a common item that most appliance shops will carry in their in-store inventory.

I cannot quote you a price as you have not provided a MODEL NUMBER with your question. I'm assuming by the picture that this is an Amana washer, but there is no model number information listed with the photo.

If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please post back with a complete model number (usually located on a nameplate around the wash tub opening, or on the back of the operator console), so that I may be able to provide you with better assistance. I hope this helps you.

In order to determine that you will need to see if it has a belt and if the belt is bad, or the motor that spines the belt is working. If the belt is the only problem, it would be worth the repair.
