HTC S710 Smartphone - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I have an htc mobile phone provided bt BT. this
I keep my phone in my pocket and they never fell off, but my wife keeps her phone in her purse and has had to send it back for that problem three times now. So I would say it's a common problem on many of the HTC phones, if they are not held securely.

Firmware deleted
you will likely have to reset your phone to factory firmware
to do this:
1 hold down both soft keys (the 2 buttons under the screen that have no specific symbol, on either side of the launch pad)
2 while holding these, press the power button once
3 when phone turns on, release the soft keys
4 follow the on-screen prompts to reset phone to factory
5 (optional) try firmware upgrade again and WAIT FOR THE COMPUTER TO SAY ITS OK TO DISCONNECT BEFORE DISCONNECTING
hope this helps

How to soft reset
There is small button that is usually in the battery compartment that you can press with a paper clip to soft reset the phone.
However, a soft reset will not fix your ActiveSync problem.
Here's what to do:
Open ActiveSync and go into the settings/options.
Delete any partnerships you see.
Now verify the following settings with your Exchange Administrator to make sure you have them right:
Server name: (a.k.a. your public server name)
Use SSL: Yes or No
User name:
Password:
Domain: (a.k.a. your private Windows Domain)
Now verify that your Exchange Admin has enabled ActiveSync for your account.
If the settings are correct and ActiveSync is enabled, you should now be able to set up working ActiveSync partnership.
Good luck!

HTC S710 not booting up and instead vibrating with all lights on
..hm I suppose you installed some new sofware or tried to tune up something in the registry entries, isnt it? First try to unistall the latest software and if it does not help then you have to make a hard reset:
Click Start > Expert > Clear Storage.
Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the phone.
or:
Power off your device
Press and hold both softkeys nearest the screen
Press the power button (you should see a black screen confirming this reset)
Release the two soft keys
Press the Green Phone button
Wait untill the clean boot is finished...

Battery on my HTC s710 lasts for 3-4 hours
if you momentarily push the "start" button, that should put the phone into hybernation. Which means the screen will go dark and quit using power. If the phone rings it will automatically wake up. If you want to use it just hit the start button again.
There are also some settings in the "settings" menu that determine when and for how long the screen stays illuminated when not in use.
