Dell 1720dn Laser Printer Questions & Answers
Dell 1720dn laser printer
If the paper intake rollers are slick and grab paper on an angle, the feed causes the paper to move off center. Rubbing the rollers with a cloth and rubbing alcohol will clean them. Slightly rubbing the entire roller with a fine abrasive material can help with the paper path issue.
How do I clean the rollers on dell 1720?
First of all dirty rollers are not the cause of your problem as long as the printer is picking up the paper. Black marks or streaks on a DELL 1700 series printer are usually caused by the drum assembly which, in this model, is separate from the toner cartridge. There is no repair, you need to replace the drum assembly and perform the drum reset procedure. In very rare cases a buildup of residual toner on the fuser can cause marks as well, but I have never seen this on a DELL printer. To replace the drum: 1. After removing the paper tray, open the front of the printer. 2. Remove the toner cartridge by pushing down on the black release tab and pulling the toner up and out of the printer. 3. Pull the drum assembly straight out of the printer using the blue plastic handle. 4. Carefully unpack the new assembly and install in the printer. Be careful not to touch the photo-sensitive roller underneath. 5. Reinstall the toner cartridge, close the printer and insert the paper tray. 6. Perform the drum reset procedure exactly as follows: power off and open front door hold down the continue button as you power on printer leaving front door open when error light comes on release continue and close front door. toner low, load paper, ready, and continue will all be lit. press cancel slowly 4 times or until just toner low lights up. each time you press cancel, the light sequence should change when just toner low is lit, press and hold continue button until lights cycle up and down in sequence. release continue.. toner low will be lit again turn printer off, wait 10 secs or so and then back on press continue button to print off settings page and check under cartridge information, photoconductor value is 0K (zero)
How do i clean the rollers on my printer?
Paper Tray Rollers
Step 1
Turn off and unplug your HP printer. Pull out your printer's paper tray and locate the printer rollers on the paper tray. Each roller is gray or black, and they are made of rubber. Remove the rollers from the tray.
On HP inkjet printers, the printer roller is not on the paper tray; it is on the area inside of the printer where the paper tray slides into the unit. Remove the paper tray and sit your HP inkjet printer upright, so the paper tray area is facing upward, and then look for the printer roller.
Step 2
Pour 1 tbsp. of isopropyl alcohol or clean water onto a lint-free cloth and scrub the paper or internal tray rollers with the cloth. Fold the cloth in half and repeat the cleaning process until the rollers are free of dust and debris.
Step 3
Wipe the rollers with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any remaining dust or debris. Let the rollers dry completely before sliding the paper tray back into your printer.
Internal Pickup Roller - Laser Printers Only
Step 1
Turn off and unplug your HP printer. Open your printer's front door and pull the printer's toner cartridge toward you to remove it from the printer.
Step 2
Locate your printer's internal pickup roller. The roller is gray or black, and it is made of rubber. Lift the roller upward, towards the front of your printer. Pull the roller gently out of the printer and lay it on a clean surface, such as a desk or workbench.
Step 3
Pour 1 tbsp. of isopropyl alcohol or clean water onto a lint-free cloth and scrub the pickup roller with the cloth. Fold the cloth in half and repeat the cleaning process until the roller is free of dust and debris.
Step 4
Wipe the roller with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any remaining dust or debris. Let the roller dry completely before snapping the pickup roller back into place inside of your HP printer. Reinstall the toner cartridge and close your printer's door.

Dell1720 laser printer is offline and cant get it
If you mean it shows "offline" in Windows, you can sometimes just uncheck that checkmark from the properties menu and it comes online. This happens if the printer experiences a problem. The computer has no way of knowing that you fixed the problem so you have to tell it that you fixed the problem.
If you are talking about the printer not being online (the actual hardware) you can try clicking on the "reset dell printer" icon in windows. You may need to download this utility from dell.com.
