Flashing:remove output and cannot print

Sounds like the Outputflag is sticking or not returning back to the proper position as quickly as i should. The output flag is gravity return in other words there is no spring required.
Perhaps there is paper or dust collecting in that area and causing the flag to stick... regardless follow these instructions to test this :

The output bin flag on the 1720dn is on the right side. (as you face the printer)

Turn the printer off, hold up the flag while pwring on, wait until al the lights stop cycling. the only light remaining ON (flashing) should be "Remove Output".
Release the Output Bin flag; the light should stop flashing (go out) and the "Ready" light

If this is the case try cleaning that area with compressed air to see if the flag will lower on its own.

Best of Luck

Data button keeps flashing and

Delete the print job on your computer and then restart the printer. Try printing from a different application. If it prints fine from a different app then it is possible that the problem application has had an update that does not work, or if you have never printed from that application you may have a compatilbity issue.

If other applications cause a problem, try to print from another computer, if others are connected to the printer. If other printers can print then it is likely that the print driver is corrupted and you will need to uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers.

Need to setup on network

Refer to the directions that came with the printer. You will probably need to know your IP address, subnet mask and gateway or if this is set up as a wireless network the SSID (network name) and WEP (password) to connect.
Usually you can just plug in the network cable and it will set itself up using DHCP.

How to change the imaging drum on dell 1720

1. Open the front cover by pressing the button on the left side.
2. Pull the cartridge assembly out (just grab the blue handle and gently pull it out, no buttons or switches needed).
3. Press the gray button at the bottom of the assembly you just pulled out to release the toner cartridge.
4. Pull the cartridge out of the drum unit (Pull the blue handle up and out)
5. Place the cartridge into the new drum unit. Make sure the white rollers on the toner cartridge match the white arrows on the drum unit. The cartridge will click when it is in place.
6. Place the cartridge assembly back in the printer.
7. Reset the drum counter by hodling down the Cancel button untill all of the lights flash in order.
8. Close the cover, and you're ready to go!

I hope this helps! Good luck!

If printing i get each time a blank document

Hi

Just add new printer and set it up as default printer. Delete the old printer icon and try to print again. This is one way to refresh the printer driver installed in your computer for communicating to the printer.

Regards
