Symphonic DVD recorder wfr205
I have the same Symphonc DVD- VCR Combo wfr205. I can't get it to work either. I called Syphonic support 2 years ago about it, they told me to clean it. I did. It will recognize DVD's sparodicly, but will not finalize them so that I can play them on anything else. I tried 3 different brands of DVD-R all with the same results. I called Symphonic a 2nd time. They do not offer replacement and have never acknowledged the recoder has a problem. I finally bought a Sony DVD recorder. I can use it along with the VCR portion of the Symphonic. The Symphonic was a waste of cash.
Im not sure how to
you need to take a Y-W-R wire set from the output of ur cable or sat set to the input of your dvd burner..
then just go on to the burner and click record.
DVD side won't load to play

Vcr dvd comp
check to make sure all the wires are going from the output to the input.
I cannot program the vcr
make sure the tv is on channel 3, and the vcr also on channel 3 -if trying to record from cable or satalite. then make sure tape is rewound all the way. do a test by hitting record on vcr. let it record for a few minutes. rewind it, then just hit play. Dont change any channels until you are ready to record the program of choice. After this test. And recording is successful. Rewind the tape again. And change the channel to your choice. Hit record at time of or go into menu of your vcr and set up a time to record shows.
DVD won't record
check your dvd that may not be a recordable dvd. You have to use either DVD R+, R-, or rewritable RW+/- disk. where did you buy it?

You may have already done this but I have run across VHS cassettes that a unit just wouldn't load and play.
Try another cassette to see if it responds the same way.
