Panasonic TH-42PX75U 42 in. Plasma Television - Page 4 Questions & Answers
I have a yellow vertical
Hello,
All Plasma and LCD TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken because the panel board contains high voltage.
Good luck in solving the problem...

Tv will not turn on,
This is a common problem an a failry easy DIY fix.
Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
- No video, Power light is on or blinking.
- TV is making a clicking noise.
- TV takes a while to come on
- Screen is very dim or flickers.
Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.
Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.
Capacitor being replaced! Fairly easy DIY fix.

Count the number of flashes. The number and sequence will tell you what's wrong with it. It will self diagnose and give you what we call blink codes. Google the make and model with words blink codes and it should tell what they mean.

How do i replace the
Plasma displays do not have backlights. The ionized gas (plasma) in the pixels is the light source, just like a tiny neon light. If your screen is dim or blank, check the high voltage supply that ionizes the gas.

Hi
You will have on your remote control an aspect button ( normally a square box with diagonal arrows within it) if you repeatedly press this button you will cycle through the various available aspects, if you have bars at the side of your picture this means that the program or video/dvd you are watching is mastered in a 4:3 format and the tv is displying the images in its original form and changes you make to this using the aspect button will be processing and strecthing the picture, try all available aspects until you find a suitable one,

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. 10 blink error in your Plasma TV means that the A Board has gone bad and should be replaced. You are right, this issue is caused due to overheating and the capacitor(s) goes bad causing these issues. You can also open the back of the unit and check the main board (A Board) first for any blown/bad components/capacitors as the board itself is around $250. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. Aplasma TV is a very hard working device. It is working harder than any TV that has been built before, and as a result it produces a lot of heat. 75% of technical problems in plasma TV's are caused by overheating problems. You’ll need to check the power supply board first for any swollen/bulged capacitors. As power supply board is the hardest working board in a plasma TV, it develops voltage to supply all components, high current + high voltage. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when switched off. These kinds of issues in plasmas usually occur after 3-4years. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems to be the issue with Y-main however, Y-buffer and the logic board should also be checked. These boards are located on the right side of the unit and to check them you’ll have to open the back of the unit. Once you have opened the back also check for any blown/bulged capacitors. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when in off position. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
