Hi Are you trying to connect via mobile broadband or a WiFi network? If mobile, then you must be in an area with a reasonable reception and also connect via your service provider using the username and password that he will have given you if you have data inclusive tariff. If WiFi network then you must have a username and password for each network hotspot, and possibly also the encryption key for the network. If you go to "Settings" and then "Wireless and Networks" your phone will show all the hotspots and WiFi networks that are within its range at the time.
