I activate phones for Boost Mobile.

I'm sorry to tell you, but an ic902 can never be unlocked to work properly on any other system - to include the Boost system. Here's why. The ic902 is a hybrid phone. That is, it uses two different cellular systems to operate. Specifically, voice calls on the ic902 are placed over the Sprint CDMA network and Push-to-Talk (PTT) calls are transmitted over Nextel's iDEN network.

Boost Mobile calling (both, voice and PTT) uses the iDEN network from Nextel. Thus, the ic902's radio transmitter (which is CDMA) cannot make calls on the Boost ( iDEN ) system.

Moreover, if you plan to use Boost Mobile, I STRONGLY suggest that you NOT purchase a Nextel phone and have it unlocked to use for Boost.

Although Nextel and Boost phones seem the same - they are not. If you look at the model number of Nextel phones most of them end in a zero. (ie., i850, i870 etc.) where Boost Mobile Phones end with the number five. (ie., i855, i875, etc.) This is because the transmitters in the phones are set to different frequencies for different purposes (like for texting.)

If you go to eBay for example, those who sell unlocked Nextel phones to use for Boost (if they're honest) will inform potential buyers in their eBay listings that their unlocked Nextel phone will not (text, for example) on the Boost network. These unlocked Nextel phones will have limitations when used on Boost.

To prevent problems down the road, ALWAYS purchase a Boost phone to use on the Boost network.

Direct connect does not work

Call Sprint/Nextel customer care. They may be able to get you back into the system by doing a master reset. Have the phone in hand and call on your home or business phone. If that doesn't work find the nearest service center and call. The will explain your repair options. Often the tech can either repair or exchange on the spot (given an hour or two, my shop got very busy). Please be patient with the techs, they know the phone is important but have to focus on one thing at a time. Regards, Don T.

I live in australia and

Contact his cellular provider through their website. Most providers have an option to back up voicemails (including the greeting) for a small fee, and you can do this without having the phone active. You probably won't be able to use his phone on an Australian network though.

Unlock motorola ic902

The best way to unlock your Blackberry is to buy unlock codes from a trusted vendor. Search internet for mobile phone unlocking websites. You will come across a thousand websites who can do this. Choose which ever you like. Do look for price comparisons and the unlocking instructions. Recheck the Model number- Network to which your phone is locked to and the IMEI number before placing an order. If you made any mistakes in these details these people will never give you a refund!! One more thing, before placing an order ask them about the conditions for getting a full refund in the case of a code failure! Think and make a wise decision. I have personally bought the code for my motorola ic902 from unlockgenie.com. It is because they have good reviews on most of the mobile phone forums. I got my phone unlocked successfully from that website. I think their codes don't fail. The web link for the above mentioned web site is http://unlockgenie.com/

I am need to unlock

Hi

To unlock it,so that it can be used with any network you need to get in touch with Sprint and ask them to unlock the network restriction code.
This is usually a paid service, but once it is done you can move to any network(AT&T in your case). This process of unlocking can be also done from a mobile shop for a little less amount, but I would advice you to go for unlocking via the original equipment provider (Sprint). As you said that this phone belongs to your family member you need to ask him/her to speak to Sprint(As the mobile account will be registered in their name).Sprint will check for any outstanding dues on this mobile account before giving out the network restriction code.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.
Thank you
