My side by side refrigerator

First question I would have is if the outlet is a dedicated line with nothing else on it. Also, does the GFCI in question have a high enough amperage rating for the refridgerator. Next, make sure the circuit breaker is not also a GFCI circuit breaker. You cannot have a redundant GFCI in the same circuit, one or the other. It can be very tricky to put an appliance like that on a GFCI circuit due to its compressor motor. Motors have a large amperage draw on them when they start so, if your fridge runs at around 10 amps, it can take three times as much to start (30 amps) which would trip a 20 amp GFCI.

My fridge is not getting cold. its blowing hot air

Hi,

If you are blowing hot or room temperature air the problem is related to the compressor or heart of the unit. It is either not running or running and not pumping.

#1 the compressor is in the back of the refrigerator near the floor, it is about the size of a bowling ball and black in color. If you hear it humming while running then a single click every few minutes it is not starting. The problem is most likely the relay part number 218721120. The part will run about $26.00

#2 the compressor is running and not pumping, if this is the case the repair cost will usually run about $500.00

No matter what temp setting I adjust my fridge to

In spite of keeping the temperature regulator 'Low' mode if it freezes up so fast, that means there is a problem in the freez pipe from where the cool air is coming into the freezer. Please check on that. Make sure, that u defrost it once in a week.

thanks,
saumya.

Freezer is freezing but fridge is not cold as it was

Sounds like defrost timer is not putting the refrigerator in defrost every 8 hours. You freezer should be below -5 degrees. Also the condenser beneath the refrigerator possibly needs cleaning. First slowly turn the defrost timer clockwise until freezer goes in defrost. You should hear the sound of crackling noise in freezer after about one minute into defrost. If timer does not come out of defrost or does not turn itself then replace it. Let me know what you find, Thanks Sea Breeze

To cool the compressor??

Some compressors are designed to be externally cooled some are not.
They have to process the refrigerant to certain pressures to operate correctly.
The specific condenser and expansion device do the rest.
By cooling a compressor artificially you make it work harder to do its' job.
Cooler is not always better.

Freezer GFI reset

no what rpobebly happened is that your freezer fillefd up with humidity and now its shorting out and tripping the breaker. make sure that theres no ice in the freezer also you should not really have it plugged intoi a gfi outlet.if its in the garage near the breaker panel i would add a dedicatefd outlet for the freezer from the electrical box.

Kelvinator fridge/freezer problem

It could be a thermostat but is more likely to be a defrost problem. If it freezes up within a short space of time I would suggest contacting a fridge guy who should be able to diagnose either the defrost heater, defrost thermostat, defrost timer or thermostat. Hope this is of some help.

Refrigerator tripping ground fault circuit

The thing you were "spinning" was the defrost timer, not a circuit breaker. The problem may be you have a shorted defrost heater; It is on a timer that runs it for 30 minutes every 8 hours of compressor use.

Slow water flow

dadcanfix. There are two possibilities here. One could be the water valve itself, clogged or not seating or opening properly. The second would be the water tank on the refrigerator side, partially frozen. I believe they have a kit now with coiled tubing that replaces that tank because of the trouble they had with it. Remove the refer drawers and take a hair dryer and go over the tank lightly. See if that improves the water flow. Catriver..post back.
