Frigidaire side-by-side model # FRS26H5ASB4 making humming or buzzing noise

Hi
My Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator model # FRS26H5ASB4 is making a loud humming or buzzing noise every few minutes. It does not sound like it is coming from the ice maker, rather the back of the refrigerator.

I had the same problem. I found the buzzing noise was caused by ice build up around the fan motor inside the freezer. I believe water must have leaked down around the fan during a defrost cycle. I removed the ice maker, the ice cube bin and ice dispenser auger motor. It sounds complicated, but it isn't too bad. The ice maker and auger are connected with quick connect plugs. So just unplug, remove the screws and remove them from the freezer. You will need to remove several other screws as well, I believe 11 in total as well as the top freezer rack. This will give you access to the white aluminum panel that runs from the top of the freezer to about halfway down the back of the freezer. After you remove the aluminum panel you will see the fan about half way down the freezer. I found a lot of ice around my fan. The fan blades were hitting the ice causing the buzz. Remove the ice and the buzzing is gone. It took me an hour to complete this repair. I hope this helps.

Frigidaire Frig side by side making a loud buzzing noise

My side by side (professional series) started making a loud buzzing noise (coming from freezer side, like a card in a bike tire). It did it once for 3 minutes and stopped after I played around in the freezer. It then started doing it again 4 hours later and has not stopped. When you open both doors it gets quieter as if power dwindles. It is making ice fine and holding temperature on both sides. I did notice some ice build up in the back of the freezer that ran down from the ice maker, as well as some build up around ice maker (but not a lot).
What can this be? I plan to take the back panel off to see.

it sounds like the compressor, or something near it. it is generally the only moving part in a refrigerator other than the door, so would be my first guess. If it is constantly running, but staying cool in the freezer there may be a small leak somewhere or the compressor is losing power, and pumping slower.

Frigidaire is freezing everything!

I have a frigidaire side by side that is about 5 1/2 years old. Model FRS26H5ASB8 that never keep the refrigerator side any to cold. I always had the temp turned all the way up to 6 now suddenly it started to freeze everything. I cleaned the coils and everything under the fridge. Even after turning the temp control all the way down it is still keeping the temperature in the frige below freezing. What do i need to d to fix it?

Frigidaire FRS6HR4HW: Refrigerator Design Flaw? It's too warm!

I had this same problem with another FrigidAir side-by-side model and I can feel cold air leaking at the top of the gasket. The door to the fresh food compartment is also misaligned by nearly 1 cm. I felt it was the gasket but the repair tech replaced the thermostat control unit, instead.
It took 1 week to get the part. Now I am waiting a second week to get that same part because after the switch-out the refrigerator was even warmer (43-44 degrees).
The tech took out the door that keeps the cold air in the freezer section and now it is down to 27-29 degrees. So I don't buy new food to replace the spoiled food because it will freeze.
I have found MANY Frigidair models that do not keep the refrigerator contents in the safe range, or only barely so despite maxing out the "Cold" control knob. If I were to switch my knob to the factory default setting the refrigerator would be closer to 60 degrees. It's been this way since Day One but the first tech to come out claimed that since it was holding at 38 degrees or so in the maximum Cold position (number 6 on the dial), that it was okay.
Except it wasn't okay because after opening the door it would get upwards of 40, which the US Gov. FAQ says is too high. We got away with dairy and cooked foods but raw meat would never last to the next day without spoiling in the refrigerator well before the sell-by date.
The repair only made things worse.
I don't see back-wall frost. I only note that there is some leakage at the uppermost portion of the gasket that keeps my boxes of cereal on top of the refrigerator very cold.
The freezer works fine.
I would like to know if this sounds like a design flaw.
The part the tech pulled out on his return trip looks like a tiny, hinged plastic door between the two compartments. Is this a common design or some funky way Frigidair implemented the cooling that just isn't working?
Upon calling Frigidair, we were told that in the dial position of "6", which is where we have kept it ever since it was brand new, should be freezing our food, not barely keeping it safe for consumption.
Any thoughts?

Your refrigerator has 2 thermostats and an electrically controlled air damper. If a technician removed the air damper and someone has not replaced the thermostat for the refrigerator side I believe you have a poor quality service tech and if your refrigerator was worked on with someone with an ounce of a brain they surely would not leave the electrically controlled damper out and would not overlook the possibility that the thermostat probe is defective. Your refrigerator would be an easy fix if the people that were working on it knew what they are doing. You have a minor problem with your refrigerator and a major problem with the technician. My Frigidaire refrigerator side by side is freezing drinks.

The refrigerator side is freezing all the drinks on my top shelf. I have put the setting below the factory setting now, but no luck. Also if I don't keep the meat keeper on warm everything in that drawer has frozen in the past.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

i got a frigidaire phs66ejsb0 and in the digital dial of fresh food temp the error code 4 is flashing what could it be

Hi,

As far as i know this means the damper failed the start up test which is producing the error code 4. It could mean the replacement of a circuit board that controls the temperature as the H2O filter may have leaked and shorted it out.

You can disable the cooling system in your refrigerator by pressing the On/Off button located on the left side of the temperature
control panel. To ensure that you do not accidentally turn off the cooling system, the button does not work unless you press and
hold it for three seconds.
Once you disable the cooling system, all refrigeration to the freezer and fresh food compartments stops.
To turn the cooling system back on, you must again press and hold the On/Off button for three more seconds and see if that resolves the problem.

If not then you will need to contact Frigidaire themselves for advice on how to resolve this problem or to have and engineer come and take a look at it for you.

I have a Frigidaire side by side - FRS26HF6BW2 -

I have a Frigidaire side by side - FRS26HF6BW2 - It will leak water from the filter cartridge area into the refrigerator. It has done this 3-4 times in the past year but never did this before. Any words of advice? I change the filter as soon as the indicator light shows yellow.

I have the exact same issue. If you look closely at your filter, it probably has a crack in it. The workmanship on the filters is apparently horrible and the material is too thin causing it to crack and leak within 2-3 months of purchase. I was replacing filters at $45 each every 2-3 months and complained to Lowe's where I purchased the Refrigerator as it's still under warranty. The sent a repair man who tested my water pressure which was fine and he pointed out the cracks on the last two filters that I had saved. He said he sees this all the time and that there's nothing you can do about it but complain to Frigidaire. Well that's been a waste of my time so either we deal with a leak or we don't use the water dispenser in the door. Maybe if some of us band together and file a law suit against Frigidaire they might listen.

Check the ice storage container. The ice dispenser will not dispense ice until the first supply ice has dropped into the ice storage container.Remove excess ice from the back of the ice container. Make sure ice cubes are not jammed between the ice maker and the back of the ice container.

---------------------

The auger won't engage or turn to dispense ice.Remove the ice bucket and with a hair dryer warm up the inside where the fork is that turns the auger in the bucket and try it and if this does not help then you will have to replace the auger motor ,, chances are the motor is just froze up .--------

If there is nothing jammed then try this./Remove the ice bin out.And then clean the ice bin.

Rotate the auger with your hand.If its hard then there is problem with auger motor. If the auger is not rotating fine then its faulty auger motor or the auger motor is frozen,if you notice ice getting collected there.

---------------

Take a hair dryer and blow hot air on the auger motor for few minutes.Take care you dont blow hot air continuously.

But if that is not helping then disconnect auger motor connecting wire wait for 2 minutes clean the connector and reconnect the connector back and see.If that is not helping at all. Then, replace the auger motor.
