I need to know how

I was going by the FRT21p5a model number and that ice box has no such control in it. All the cooling is controled by the temperature setting in the fresh food compartment. If I were you I would look for rost buildup on the back of the freezer. that is a sure sign of a defrost problem. Remove the evaporator access panel and look for ice. If you find ice remove it with a hair dryer and check the heater for continuity. I strongly expect your defrost heater is bad. I have some repair manuals HERE

I have more info on how defrost systems work HERE

Freezer not getting cold enough.

That is normal since the cold control is on the refrigerator side and is satisfied. It needs to be in a heated environment and not in an unheated garage.

The freezer is cold, but the fridge isn't cooling

your condenser fan motor has given up the ghost What this motor does is transfer cooling from the freezer to the fridge and is controlled via the thermostat. Where is this fan located you may ask. Well here it is. The aera between the fridge and the freezer where the temp control for the fridge there is a vented area this area houses the fan motor and should be a snap to remove if you have the time to do it
Once you remove the panel presto change there it is it has a fan blade on it that can be pulled off. Once the blade is removed you should see the screws that hold the bugger in place. Take the model # and serial # to an appliance parts house for replacement. Installation is the opposite of removal. Oh, As always disconnect the power source before any repairs are made
Hope this helped

Frt21lr7ds3 freezes then thaws out

Hi,
The most likely cuase of this problem is that your defrost timer is not owrking properly. It seems that it is cycling too frequently and causing all kinds of problems for you.
You can purchse a defrost timer online easily by doing a search for "appliance parts" these sites will want the model number of your unit and then will give you a parts breakdown for it. Check a number of different sites as the prices can vary greatly.

Hopefully this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Describe your frigidaire refrigerators frs26r4cq0

Your condenser fan probably is not running. It's underneath with the compressor. It should be running when the compressor runs. You can place a fan on the floor blowing on the condenser coils till you get it fixed. The fan should spin freely. Test the fan motor for continuity using a multitester. Set the multitester to the ohms setting X10. Place a probe on each terminal. The multitester should display a reading approximately mid-way between infinity and zero ohms. If the motor does not pass this test, it should be replaced. You don't need to test the middle one if you have one.

I have a small Holiday fridge and it is not

frost on the capilary tube is the sign of bad things, usually a resrtiction in the system, or uncondensables such as water or cooked oil,
this is a sealed sytem repair that would require a lic to repair
with is unit, you would need a minimum of an evaporator and system dryer installed
the dryer is the bulb attached between the evap and the cap tube

First of all make sure the condensate drain hose (or pipe) isn't pugged.
If you look in the area of the compressor you will see it. If you dare , blow in it. Please un plug your electricity cord first.

Frigidaire freezer cold, refrig in 50's.

Because the model FRT21P5A has a manual adjusting vent I believe your problem is either the defrost heater and defrost thermostat and or the cold control (thermostst) is not working correctly. When temperatures rise in the refrigerator side first that is a sign that the air flow from the freezer is restricted. You will need to unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear panel in back of freezer to confirm. If Iced over use a hair dryer to defrost and disconnect one wire on the defrost heater. Check the defrost heater with an ohm meter. You should get a reading. If defective and no reading you need to replace the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Let me know what you find, Thanks Sea Breeze
