20 Most Recent Jenn-Air JGR8875QDS Gas Kitchen Range Questions & Answers

I was able to find online some metal knobs that MIGHT work, but the prices ranged from $30 to 60 EACH, and I needed 5 - too costly for me!
The following 3 plastic knobs will work on your Jenn Air range, model JGR8875QDS. By "work" I mean they will fit your burner controls, operate the burners just like the factory knobs, and the markings on the knobs for "Off" "Lite" and "Hi" will be in the correct positions, similar to the factory knobs. (Exception: The last knob listed has markings somewhat different than the Jenn Air knobs.)

The following knobs do NOT look like your factory knobs - all three are made from black plastic rather than the (fake) silver metal look of the (plastic) OEM knobs. What I cannot tell you is if the following knobs will be more durable than the factory knobs - but then it's hard to imagine how they could be much worse.

-------- Burner control knobs known to work on the Jenn Air JGR8875QDS gas range --------

1. Whirlpool part number 74008850, made for some Amana gas ranges, will fit the Jenn Air. RepairClinic.com calls it part #1035119, and PartsSelect.com calls Item #PS2086316; it sells for $6-7 (USD). You can see a photo by entering the appropriate part number in the search box of either of the two websites mentioned above. The Amana knob is about a quarter-inch larger in diameter than the OEM knobs, but that does not cause any problems. Of the several knobs I tried this is the only one that tells me what it's made from - "PBT" - or polybutylene terephtalate, a thermoplastic which has a melting point of 430 degrees F and a maximum utilization temperature of 330 F.

2. Whirlpool part number 74009094, made for some Maytag gas ranges will also fit the Jenn Air. RepairClinic.com calls it #1035342, and PartsSelect.com calls it #PS2086544. It sells for about $9 on both sites. You can see it here:

Like the Amana knob, the Maytag knob is about a quarter-inch larger than the OEM Jenn Air knob.

3. A third knob worth considering is available from AmericanStoveParts.com for $7 each. The front of the knob looks much like their OEM Replica Burner Knob 1104-B (but don't order #1104-B - it won't fit). The knob that will fit the Jenn Air is AmericanStoveParts #1214-025-B. You will have to order it by phone or email because it is not shown on their website. (As of October 2009, none of the knobs shown on AmericanStoveParts.com will fit the Jenn Air.) 

Notice the markings on the 1214-025-B are not quite like the Jenn Air markings, with the "HI" and the "LITE" positions being reversed. Also, the 1214-025-B knob I received did not have the white dot at the "OFF" position nor the white ring around the periphery as shown in the photo of the 1104B knob. The total diameter of the the 1214-025-B is 2" - the same as the factory Jenn Air knobs.

While I don't think the front of 1214-025-B looks quite as nice as the Amana or Maytag knobs, the back of the knob appears to be much more robust than on the others. The extra plastic MAY make this one more durable.

The F1 error code means that the computer thinks a button on the touchpad is stuck. Sometimes this can be resolved by making sure the touchpad connector fits tight into the control board. The F1 code can be cleared by pushing CANCEL/OFF. If it returns the touchpad needs to be replaced, GENE

Any appliance store should be able to get those parts for you. If not try sears/lowes etc or look for a marcone/apwagner near you

Try unplugging the oven from the electrical power. May release the lock, which is held in place by a tiny micro switch. If not and while the electric is still off or the oven is unplugged, use a bright light flashlight to look through the slot where the lock is in the oven, not in the door.

You may be able to use a thin blade screwdriver to move the lock to the release position. Check the angle of the lever. A slightly bent lever handle also can cause this type of condition.

If all else fails, remove the access panel on the front of the oven to access the locking device and release it. May have to disconnect the wires to the lock which will allow door to function but not during any self cleaning modes.

You've pretty much diagnosed the most common cause of the symptoms you are describing. There is a small button under each control feature on the display overlay. You can attemtpt to remove the circuit board and clean the buttons to see if this will restore any of them to full operation. Remove the control board from the range and clean all the button tabs with some isopropyl alcohol. If cleaning the circuit board does not work for you, replace the control board.

NOTE: Make sure you UNPLUG the range prior to servicing anything inside the operator control panel.

NOTE: If the model number is correct, the overlay is the entire control panel cover. This has to be ordered separately and costs almost as much as the control board itself. I would recommend you reuse your current overlay if in good shape. The part number for a replacement control board is 74009154.

Replace the ignitor and you will be okay again.

Hello - Most likely failed lower burner ignitor. Tests good if above 4ohms. Part is 40$. Can give replacement instructions if needed. Let me know if this helps. Thanks. -ED

This will sometimes occur because manufacturers are using thinner and cheaper metals for the cabinets. Its just from expansion and contraction from the heat. It will occur more frequently if you use self clean often because its very tough on the components of your oven due to to high temps. Unfortunately theres no way to "bang out" the cavity. My only suggestion would be to get a couple of clamps that go around the sidebar of the rack and put bolts through them to extend the sides of the rack so they will not fall off the tracks. It wouldnt be pretty but it should hold them in place. Hope this helps _MJ_

What you have to do is remove the racks and door. then remove the bottom of oven then remove the flame spreader and you will see the burner. Uplug the quick connect and remove the burner and ignitor so you can mount it on a nice work surface. take cake not to get contaminents on the silicon carbide ignitor filiment or drop it. Nothing to it.

In less than 6 years of normal use, 4 burner control knobs on my Jenn-Air free standing gas range, Model JGR8875QDS, have either broken or melted.
 
If you want to continue to buy Jenn Air knobs, no problem - several suppliers will be glad to provide them for  $10-15, each (USD). Whirlpool's part number for the factory Jenn Air knobs is 74009148, and you can get them from repairclinic.com (#1035396), or PartsSelect.com (#PS2086597).

If, however, you want to try a different set of knobs, hoping to find some that are less prone to break or melt, then it gets a lot more complicated.

Jenn Air/Whirlpool will be no help; they will tell you the only knob that will work is the Jenn Air OEM knob. Parts suppliers won't help you either - no specifications or interchangeability data exists - and they are unable or unwilling to take measurements.

You'll need a VOM and knowledge how to use it to find the problem.If you have a clamp Ammeter you'll be able to tell if your ignitors need replacement or not. This oven has an electric convection element and gas bake and broil. You need to test with the voltmeter if there is power to your bake ignitor and convection element. Pull the range out from the wall and unplug it. Flex gas lines are usually long enough to pull the range out of the cabinets completely. Make sure not to put too much tension on the gas line. Unscrew and remove the back of the control panel. You also might find the schematic diagram inside or outside that panel. Now you should see your oven control board. Find the 6-pin white connector on the board, with only 2 wires in it: black and white. These are hot and neutral wires, respectively. We'll test the bake first. Find the 4-pin green connector with 1 or 2 black wires, one yellow and one red wire. Yellow wire should have 110v AC when you turn the bake on. Plug the oven back in, start bake cycle and check voltage between the yellow wire I mentioned and the white wire on the white 6-pin connector. If there is none - replace the board. Part: 74009154 The red wire on the same green connector is the convection element power wire. Test it the same way as you did with the yellow wire, but turn on the convection instead of a regular bake. No power - replace board. If both tested out ok: check the current draw using the clamp ammeter.There should be 3A or more in less than a minute on yellow wire when you turn on the bake. If none - the bake ignitor is dead; If less than 3A - it's not going to open the gas valve - in both situations replace the ignitor. Part number: 74008064 To get to it you'll need to remove the bottom of the oven cavity. The ignitor plug should be either in the back or behind the bottom drawer. Check the current draw the on the red (convection) power wire when the convection bake is on. I don't know the wattage of the conv. bake element, I guesstimate the current to be at least 8A. If the current draw is 0A or close to that - replace the convection bake element. (Can't find the part number, but it is very unlikely that it's failed)Use "New10" coupon code for 10% discount.
