Why do my lights on
put a little petrol on it & light it up. I'm sure you'll get enough light then.
Burner light stays on
Hi,
This is caused by a faulty sensor that is located between the burner element and the top. To replace the faulty part you will need to uninstall the cooktop and remove the glass top. The sensor is a rod a little smaller than a pencil that you will see right on top of that burner.
If you choose not to replace the sensor it will not cause any issues other than you will have to live with that light constantly on and you will know when the top is hot for that element.

30amps at 220vac will run about 6 to 7 kilowatts, your oven is probable about 3 kilowatts.

I doubt the unit is bad more likely a wiring problem. There may be two seperate breakers for the stove top check your fuse panel to see if there might be more than one breaker for the stove. Sometimes they wire the 110 volt circuit and the 220 volt circuit seperate so even if the 220 volt for the burners went out the knobs and the clock and other 110 volt features would still work.
Wiring with 2 wires out of wall
try to use black to black: white to red: and green and white to ground.
you may not have a 240 volt supply to this unit. most of the time when you have these color wires that would tell me that it only has 120 volts of power.
you can try to wire it up as described, but it may not heat enough with just 120 volts.
what type of cook top did you replace, a gas unit and now your changing it to an electric one?
if so, then you will have to replace the wiring inside the wall with the proper size wiring to handle the extra current from an electric unit.
