Nikon CoolScan 9000 ED Film Scanner Questions & Answers
Nikon Coolscan 9000 not recognized by XP computer anymore....
I read and would like to thank, the person who mentioned this as a solution. It was stated that if you have more than one firewire on your computer, when you open the Nikon, both signals, or whatever happens in computerland, don't connect. Upon removing the drive in the other firewire, Nikon clicks in everytime. Answer: have only ONE active firewire at a time. You may need to unplug the cable to the scanner and reconnect. But that's it. I've not had any problems since
Nikon Scan cannot locate device
Please check the following
1. The data cable that connect the device with your computer.
2. The version of device driver. Update the device driver.
4. Install proper software to communicate with the device. During installation the device should be found automatically by the computer.
5. If the device is not found then check if your computer hardware and /or OS is compatible with Nikon Cool Scan.
I'm getting an Auto Focus
Hi there,
Please follow the below steps -
1. Nikon Scan 4.0.2 will work with Mac OS X 10X but you have to remove all traces of previous Nikon software from your machine.
2. Nikon Scan 4.0.2 still says 4.0 in the About Box. Only the readme that appears will mention 4.0.2. (This happens on both Windows and Mac.
3. Turn off your screen saver by setting it to never.
4. Turn off your Monitor sleep in Energy Saver by setting it to never.
5. Get at least 1gb of RAM.
6. Choose your scanning settings and when happy choose "Set user settings". (Nikon Scan seems to dislike constantly changing settings.)
7. Set your preferences to save your scan output to disk.
8. Don't set your preferences to set PhotoShop as an external editor.
9. Don't be tempted to click on any other application window. Nikon Scan seems to refer to the "front" window and is cranky if you try to "fool" it.
10. Quit and restart Nikon Scan after every half dozen negative strips or so.
As you can see the mantras are almost endless. If you don't do these things Nikon Scan will crash often and you will lose scans.
Good Luck!!
Thanks

I need the amount of amps used for multiple pieces of equipment
I'll hazard a guess that you are trying to run these things off of a single household electrical circuit and want to avoid an overload. In that case, the best way is to determine how many Watts each device uses. That information can either be found on the back/bottom of the unit, or on the AC adaptor that came with it. In the latter case, use the "input power" value.
Once you know the wattage, divide by the input voltage - 120 Volts in the US, 100 Volts in Japan, or 240 Volts in Europe, Australia, and much of Asia.
For example...the info on the bottom of my boombox indicates 120V at 16W...
Watts / Volts = Amps
18W / 120V = 0.15A
In another example, my laptop power supply has the following info...
120V-240V @ 160W input
15.4V @ 145W output
I use 120 Volts here so the math goes...
160W / 120V = 1.333A
Note that the output values are not used.
If I want to know how much current the devices use together, I merely add them...
Boombox Amps + Laptop Amps = Total Amps
0.15A + 1.333A = 1.483A
I hope this helps !

Glass neg carrier - Nikon Coolscan 9000
Not to sound rude, but are you inserting it with the arrows pointing into the scanner? That is the first step. Afterwards makesure you have the scanner on and the green light is not blinking.
