you most likely need a new pressure stat/switch as it is what tells the elements to turn off and quit heating.

Plz try the following steps if not satisfied plz revert:

1. Make sure the water reservoir is full and properly fitted into its position.
2. The grounds should not be over-packed into the filter.
3. Make sure the filter holder fits properly into the holding ring.
4. You may need to clean the filter basket and the brew head

Remove the water tank out.Then turn off the machine.Then turn on the machine.It will give message, water tank out or no water tank.Insert water tank then see.If it go further "please wait". But if its still not going beyond please wait, then its internal fault.The temperature thermostat is stopped working or its not heating inside.So the unit is just displaying please wait.The thermostat and heating element has to be checked and replaced.------------ This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

The Franke Saphira is the same machine as the Jura X7.

hi , you can use the cleaning tablets as jura and franke have the same brewing unit,

240vac is then switched when the drip tray conntact connect. 240vac goes to both thermoblock heaters and pump.possibly a dead short inn the heating or pump circuit.check all connections and look for slack connections around the pumps. brewing motor runs and magnetic drian valve opens also at switch on, check also.

The temp sensor on the Steam block has failed, a replacement is required

This is due to the failure of the brew system, 1, an o ring on the brew piston may have failed
2, the brew unit may have failed - Replacement will be required. 3, the brew motor may have failed - replacement will be required , 4, numbers 2 and 3 ...
The brewer and motor are not really serviceable (labour intesive) replacements are more economical. have to hope its just the O ring!!!!

This error message is due to the failure of the temp sensor on the steam thermoblock the part number 12 1P315518 from frankecoffee uk, an engineer is normally require to fix this kind of fault.

If you keep the empty drip tray message, especially after making a drink or cleaning operation this points to a leak internally on to the drip tray contacts. or from the thermoblock leaking onto the wiring loom behind the front door panel. An engineer will be required to fix this as the correct seals will be needed. I have been a Franke Service Engineer for 15 Years.

error/malfunction 4 usually means thermistor/sensor on steam generator block has failed ie open circuit /disconnected......................small metal encapsulated device clipped or screwed to block,2 wires to harness plug...

The Ecolino appears to come in several different trim lines, each with different feature sets.

If yours is a fully-automatic (grinds, tamps, brews and self-cleans) model, then the error is probably that the drive motor is finding too much resistance when it tries to cycle through.
I'm not very confident in this answer though, because I don't know why it would work with the drip tray open.

If I'm on the right track, the solution will be to clean and lubricate the machine. If you're still under warranty, you'll have to take it to a service center, since opening it up to clean the mechanism will void that warranty.

If you're already out of warranty and want to open it up, the two sections of the system that I would do first are the burrs of the grinder and the piston that compresses the grounds for brewing. Those are the two places where oils and resin will build up first, so the most likely places to have built up resistance.

try clean two brass contact on tray with brush sometimes that can help

You need to check (or replace) the air-intake nozzle which is located inside the coffee outlet. You will sure loose the good froth if that part is not clean or replaced. There should be proper amount of air input to produced the proper froth.
