there is a special tool to remove those.you should be able to find at an ace hardware store.

these covers are made of a mica material; and tend to get grease-soaked from food splatter. this is where the microwaves pass through. if cover is burned, you will need to replace and clean greasy mess underneath. hopefully, the magnetron is not damaged.

If this is a problem of the control panel being locked, the instructions are posted on page 9 of the owner's manual. Press STOP/CLEAR, followed by pressing and holding the ENTER/START button for 3 seconds. The lock should clear.

What is your line voltage? Are you in the city or country? What kind of bulbs are you using? Not grounded? Sounds like an older house or building... definately needs to be grounded......
