Sony RDR-VX420 DVD Recorder/VCR Questions & Answers
VX420 How would you reset to factory settings
There are two methods to reset.. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the device from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. When I record programmes to
16:9 recording is availbe on this unit.
Following are the available media to use for recording:

I would try a different type of media.
Found this tidbit -
*Not all options available for all disc formats.
I entered,in error, Command mode 3 on the set up
Try this (works for Panasonic) - remove the batteries from the remote (as if to replace them with new ones), press any button on it to clear its buffer, then re-insert them (if they are reasonably fresh). Point remote at unit, press 1 and ENTER/OK buttons together - hold for 10 seconds, then release. This should restrore the command back from remote to the unit, and it should now fully operate. Just something to try, it may work.
Many Panasonic DVD recorders operate on the same principle; there are 3 remote command mode settings (default is DVD1) - so it's very easy to make errors in setup, but just as easy to correct.
Hi,
When I play video tapes
Hello,
If the sound quality seems to be muffled and the DVD seems to be working perfectly fine, there still is a problem somewhere that is why it is giving the muffled sound.
All you need to do is to check the RF prong and try to adjust it at the back of the DVD to see if its sound quality improves, if not, you will have to change the prong completely.
After changing it, the sound quality will be as perfect as it is supposed to be.
Take care and good luck
Can you record digital tv
As long as the signal is sent through the rca plugs( the yellow, white, and red plugs). Then yes you can.
But there may be a prevention program that may prevent this.
