No audio on tv channels but perfect on DVD playback etc

this looks very much like a problem I once 've had (and later found the solution by accident). When you go into the menu of the remote control and press the "automatic channel search" function you can always specify from which "source" the signal is arriving either 1, from antenna, (ie. over air) or 2, from cable or 3, from satellite. Then the decoder searches and finds a bunch of station in its reach. Once (while hooked up to an antenna) ,I had accidentally made it do the station search under the "cable" header instead of "antenna" and it found the same stations as the one's I've had before,(over antenna) but some stations suddenly had no more audio. Because I was unaware that the set was programmed under the cable header I could solve this strange mystery only much later when I reprogrammed it one day and it searched the stations under the Air-Antenna header, then suddenly all the stations were coming in properly, with good image and full audio. ------If this doesn't solve your problem then search under the menu of your set if at another part of it you can specify some other similar options like Antenna-Cable choice. I'm quite sure its easy to correct. good luck Alex

I can't get closed caption off my dvd player

Some DVD players cannot handle closed captions. Cheaper or older hardware players sometimes strip out the closed caption data. Players that have a progressive scan mode sometimes block captions when in this mode. And anything that's connected with an HDMI cable can't pass through captions. Most software players that you use when you play a DVD on your computer don't have any way to decode the captions. Windows Media Player can display DVD captions, and Apple DVD Player can display pop-on captions but not roll-up style captions. Certain paid versions of WinDVD and PowerDVD have CC capability. Look in your player's preferences to see if there are any closed caption options.Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day don't forget to rate me.thanks,REymond

Unit was working fine last

Switch off the power for few hours so as to reset. If there is no result with the control panel working , then it seems that the processor has hung or is defective.
You can openthe covers and check the +5 to the processor circuits. Disconnect the cords to the optical unit and the sub units to see if the processor functions. If not there are errors in the system control section which can be fault in the processor section. You will need to check the parameters of the processor, refer manual to confirm the voltage , in/out data to confirm. Sometimes a failure of sub- voltage of the power , or a loading drive can be the fault for error.

When set to TV, it

Ok you need to try a channel reset, turn off leave for 5 mins or so, do this this & it may clear any faulty data in the PROM of the unit,(This too can cause it to freeze and lockup) Also have a look in the manual, you maybe, I cannot remember for this exact model? able to do a factory reset, if so, also try that first.
However, and if this doesn't work, then you have a CPU & tuner fault. I have seen this problem before, with these models, and, the faulty tuner locks up, the CPU,(Or other way round?) and will not scan. The module must be replaced. This isn't a DIY task, it must be done by a serviceman. The cost maybe a couple of hundred bucks, more if the power supply is involved too,it sometimes is?
The best thing to do,is get a "Quote' from an authorised professional, and go from there?

How do i connect my

Hi! If your TV does have HDMI (as your DVD) then this will be without doubt the best way. You will be getting great image quality and there is zero configuration needed. Just connect them by HDMI and select HDMI INPUT on your tv
Also, by using HDMI, and since both devices are LG, you will realize you can use one special button you can locate on both your remotes, it's called simplelink. Pressing this button will allow you to use some special features not available with another connection.
If you can go this way you will realize configuration is pretty straightforward and, in no time, you will have your whole system working ;)

When turning on the DVD

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems that the lens is unable to read discs. To start with try running a lens cleaning disc, if that does not work then you have to open the unit and clean the lens with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol. If still the issue is not resolved then the lens should be replaced however, replacing a lens will cost you around $75 and a new one will cost you around $50. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

No disk detected

No disc error is usually caused by dirty optical lens or a faulty lens. Turn it off, unplug it, then try cleaning it with a very soft dry cloth and then try playing a cd which has no scratches.

The blue color part, that's called optical lens. It looks like a glass but its not a glass, its a plastic cap for the laser to go thru to read the discs. Never apply any wet solutions on it. Just use a soft dry cloth to rub off the dirt on it. If u absolutely have no idea what im talking about, then take it to a local repairing store to get it fixed. If the cost is too expensive, then dump it and get a new one
