Power Acoustik MOFO-15 Car Subwoofer - Page 8 Questions & Answers
It turns on then blows all the fuses
HelloCheck for any short circuit with wiring of the amp. If there is no such fault, surely your amp need service. It has some internal shorted components. This work is really a skilled one, and can only be done by any experienced service personal only. OK.
My friend said he fried
Unless he connected the black to positive and the red and yellow to negative, it should not have fried his dvd player.
I need to know what
- You double the watts to the speaker for the channels bridged. This also depends on the Ohms of the speakers being used. The lower the Ohms of the speakers used in relation to the Ohms of the amp also increases the watt output of the amp.

My protect light is stuck
it sounds like you have a shorted wire or a blown speaker in system
try disconnecting all speakers and see if light goes out if so it is bad speaker if not try disconnecting all speaker wires and see if light goes out then
also if disconnecting speakers fixes problem you might want to check what the Ohm load is and how you have multiple speakers hooked up if Ohm load is too high or low you will get same light
is it possible you have too much moisture in car - sometimnes that will cause error
if this does not help please contact me with as many details as you can give me and i can try to help more - number of speakers, how they are wired to amp, what amp, how many channels for amp, etc - the more info the better i can help
good luck!
I accedently conected the power cabel on the
hi at the rear of the amp where the power terminals are open it and where the power terminals conect to the circuit board you will see a black diode this is what we call a dummy or a reversed diode you will have to remove this and replace it if you dont and this happens again there will be more serious damage done and may be unrepairable let me know how you get on
Makes head lights dim wen bass hits.
You need to install someting called a power cap. the amp needs so much power to produce the big bass thump that the alternator cant keep up. Use a powercap and its like a power reserve.
When i put a dvd
you can install a bypass switch but i don't recommend it because it is illegal.
I have two stax amps
You haven't said the exact model of your Stax amps so i can't be very precise but most Staxs don't run with less than 1.5 ohm loads or when in series/push-pull configuration.
You haven't said the exact model of the protection system and at what rating it's set - if it's external. Maybe the current at which it gets activated is lower than what both amps are drawing at full power.
Maybe you connected the amps wrongly - the phases aren't aligned.
This also happens when the outputs aren't perfectly in sync and at equal value - check the preamp and the inputs.
In either way make sure of: the inputs to the amps are identical in every way, the amps are in parallel (watch the phases), the sub is wired at 2 ohms and all the wiring is as equal as possible..
I have a power acoustik
It should just pop into that holder, it's possible it is worn out. It's pretty tough to say how to do it without looking at it... Any way you could take a few pictures of the setup and send them this way? Just post them on the comment here to start with... using the PICTURES button at the bottom of the text box.
Thanks
Tim
