D-Link DES-1008D 8-Port drivers
Drivers are not required, the device is a networking device and doesn't interact with the OS directly anyway. What you might be looking for is the Web Interface that allows you to change settings, update firmware etc.By default most are configured to either 19.168.0.1 / 10.0.0.1 / 10.1.1.1 Open your web browser, type one of those into the web address bar until you find the one that brings up the web page, from here you should be able to configure a few things. If you are unsure click start > run > type: cmd > hit enter> a dos prompt appears, now type: tracert
www.google.comYou will see IP addresses appear as the computer traces the path the packets are taking to reach google, what you are interested in is the first address that is in that list, that should be your switch ip address and all you have to do now, is type that address in your browser address bar. This should now bring up the configuration page for the switch.Still unsure of the address, head to D-links website and find the support link and search for your model of switch, from here you can bring up the detailed users guide which will contain instructions on how to access the Web interface also.
I want to block internet
Hi there.
Unfortunately your switch is what is known as an "unmanaged" switch meaning you cannot make changes to it in any way. It is simply a plug and go device. If you want a switch that can control internet access you would be better off buying a "managed" switch or a switch that supports something called a "VLAN". A VLAN is a technology where you can make certain ports part of a virtual network and you can restrict certain access on these virtual networks such as internet access.
If it is a certain computer that you want to block internet access to you can possibly do that though your router's firewall's configuration.
I wan to install a
The switch should not need to be installed, it is a dumb un managed device. Can you be more specific?
Hi sir , i have
Good day Sir,

If yes, Do this
First use Router and 1pc only try to run the Smartbro internet. On the First run Smartbro will ask for your service number. Enter it you can copy that on your smartbro bill. If your successfully doing it. you can now connect the other pc's on the switch...
Good Luck bro. hehehehe :D
Why does d-link 8 port
Hi,
IF the D-link kept on hanging after there is a power outage, it is a security feature of the router not to short circuit. What it does is it protects the router for any power surge. If the router doesn't have that, it will be defective. What you can do to prevent this from happening is to get a power surge protector. so that the router wont turn off suddenly. You will be the one to turn it off.
Thank you for using Fixya. Your recommendation is highly appreciated for the free support.
Can I configure my d-link
the 10/100 Mbps feature in the switch means it will auto-negotiate the speed with the other end, so in order to make it run at 10 Mbps, degrade the computer's speed to 10 Mbps and the switch will automatically follow. You cannot set it on the switch directly since its not a managed one.
good luck
Driver
Hi,
You don not require a driver for a switch unless it is a layer 2 or 3. The swith acts as a distirubtion device for your LAN network.
Hope this helps.
