Gaggia Classic: how to replace the steam valve
WholeLatteLove has the necessary parts; they are the valve and an O-Ring or gasket. The valve is held in place by two Allen head metric cap screws. You remove the knob, open the case, remove the steam wand tubing (you reuse this), take out the cap screws and the valve comes off. Just reverse for assembly, don't overtighten the cap screws as they thread into aluminum. I've replaced several of these over the years; they don't hold up well. I have one to replace currently, and plan on using the old valve body as an adapter for a commercially available needle valve that hopefully hilds up better and is easier to get and costs less. IIRC, price on the Gaggia part is about $35. Hope this helps.
