When my computer goes into

Assuming you are using a windows operating system, go to the control panel under the start button. Find power settings and turn off hibernation mode. Sleep mode should be ok. Additionally, on the monitor, find the menu button that pulls up the OSD (on screen display) and see if there is a ECO mode or power saver mode and turn it off as well. Good Luck.

I have to keep pressing the on and off button

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have the same problem. Unlucky!! I cannot solve this problem too!! but I think I found some clue for you. please see the picture. _844.jpg
As you can see, there are only two boards behind the screen, one is the CONTROLLER BOARD - it has no problem at all, another one is the major problem, the POWER SUPPLY BOARD. _845.jpg
_846.jpg
I thought the main problem came from POWER TRANSISTOR -40T03GP 703065 [Q205] - when we turn on the monitor this power transistor will make the heat until its body leakage sometimes it can pop two capacitors (as I describe in picture). I will try to change two power transistors (we can replace only leak one but for sure I think we should replace two of them) and two capacitors. I hope the result will make us happy, if not - I will come here and tell you again. Hope we are lucky!!

Two capacitors on my Viewsonic

Bad cap can look normal but can have high ESR, I always replace them in a set, and you should use LOW ESR type with 105c rating since we are dealing with switching power supply here. Look at the bottom seals also.

My Viewsonic VG2021m Monitor recently

Hello,

The intermittent image, dark picture or no power are all indications of a failing power supply. If you can solder you should be able to repair your monitor. We have an article posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-the-westinghouse-lcm-20v5/ The post is about repairing the Westinghouse LCM-20V5 but they both use the same power supply board, the Delta DAC-12M033 so the information is the same. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service for this model for $32 plus return shipping. More information on this service can be found here. http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/service-request-form/

I hope this information helps, if so please rate our solution.

After pressing the power on button it starts to

Hello,

You have a monitor with a failing power supply. The Viewsonic VG2021M monitor uses the DAC-12M033 power supply board. After several years of use the capacitors in the power supply start failing and not keeping a charge. The capacitors are on the output side of the power supply and help filter and stabilize the voltages. When they fail the power does not settle when you turn it on so you have to do the on/off/on/off to get it to start. If you can solder then you should be able to repair your monitor. Check out the article on our site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-the-westinghouse-lcm-20v5/ it is for the Westinghouse LCM-20V5 but they both use the same board so the repair information is the same. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service for this unit, it runs $32 plus shipping. You can get more information on this service here:

My VG2021m´s sound doesn´t want

Did you varify that the sound card in the PC is working? You can try feeding the the monitor with sound source from MP3 player to see if you do get the sound OK or not, to have the sound circuits repair by the shop will not be worth it because the money will be better spent on good set of powered spekers system with better sound than the monitor built-in speakers.

Status light is blue and red. display is dead

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.
