My monitor blacks out every time it turns on.

It may have dying power supply due to bad caps.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/ Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

More likely that it has dying power supply due to bad DC filter caps, that will be the first thing to look for.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 931BF. I love the

Remove its stand
Unscrew all the screws in the back.
It doesnt just lift off I guess you could say, there are many clamps around the edge that need to be "popped" by sliding anything thin enough to get between the front and back of the case to pop them.

I popped mine open the other night. The clamps appear to be hard to break, at least in my circumstance. None of them broke with a fair amount of pressure from pulling being applied.

Also, mine had your exact same issue until one day it no longer turned on completely. It just flashed the screen once and showed a flashing power light around the button. Replacing 3 capacitors that were just barely bulging on the top fixed the issue.

It went to sleep. Then on of button continuously

Try it with another PC first to make sure that it is not PC problem since it is blinking like it is not getting the video signal from the PC, if it still does not work then you will have to open it up. First thing to look will be bad caps with leaking/bulging tops or botton seals. Post back what you see for further help.

Try going into on screen menu and and look for factory reset on screen menu. You may have VGA cable problem or it can also be the video card. Please try this monitor on anther PC to see if the problem goes away.

Samsung SyncMaster 931 BF CCFL voltage only stays

Robbert_R_V, Have you visited YOUTUBE to search out and view some of the longer video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" or "LCD monitor repair" or www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm site run by "buddymc" on fixya. Do that first!!! FYI !! Also try www.lcdparts.com for some additional info. Here is a hint of a similar TECHNOLOGY that you are dealing with. Have you seen the CURLIE-Q energy-efficent CFL light bulbs at the homecenter stores? They have what is called an ELECTRONIC BALLAST circuit called a CONVERTER! AC to AC. You have a ballast called an INVERTER. DC to AC 800v to 1200v to light-up your thin, straight, tubes hung on the backside of your LCD glass panel! If this info was of some help, please rate this response on fixya. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

I have a samsung monitor when we switch off the

Hello,

This is a very common problem on many LCD monitors after a few years of use. If you can solder you should be able to repair the monitor yourself. The problem is caused by blown capacitors on the power board. Go to our web site at : www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We have pictures of what to look for. Open your monitor and look at the power supply board for any blown capacitors, replace all that you find. The replacement parts can be ordered from several places on the internet or we can supply them for you. The replacement parts will need to be high temp and will be marked 105c. The values you need to get will be marked on the sides of the ones you take out but will be something like 220uf, 470uf, or 1000uf etc. and then a voltage rating. When you install the new ones be sure to insert them with the polarity stripe going the same direction as the old ones come out. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service for $35 plus return shipping. If you have any questions just let us know

I hope this helps if so please rate our solution.

I suggest you try another video card in your computer. This may be the culprit if the second monitor did the same thing as the first. If the different video card does the same thing, I would then suspect the motherboard.

Monitor powering up and down at random

Check monitoc cableing. This might be the cause of cable having loose connection on the back of the monitor. (I mean data cable (VGA) not power cable)
Did you have a chance to check with another monitor? Will picture appear when cable on the back is moved?

Does this happen when you logon to bios screen? REstart PC and keep pressing F2. You will see bios screen - test unit there. If that is ok then everything is fine with the monitor.
Let me know if issue is not solved by checking cable and I will provide you futher troubleshooting steps.
Thanx

Samsung 931B Monitor Screen will not stay

jane657, Hi there. Will you stop pushing the On/Off button on your lcd/fpd. It's Broke. Period. End. Finito!!! You will not fix it. However there is one test that you should do to determine hoe bad the problem is. You will need to reconnect the 931B to a known good pc that has been fully booted and has the WIN-DESKTOP or IE fixya web page showing. quickly connect the931B to the wall outlet and the PC. Turn on the monitor!!! Yes, I know it will only come on for a second..After the screen goes to BLACK, Shine a bright flashlight onto the screen at different angles, 1-2 inches from the screen. Let me know if you see something even though the screen is black. Anyway here are your options as a consumer/user. 1. Check if unit is under warranty. 2. Check withh Samsung to see if they have a SWAPOUT program. You send them your monitor+$40-$90 and they return a refurbished same model to you with a 30 day warranty. 3. Trade in for new monitor. 4. Check with local TV/Monitor repair guy who knows all there is to know about cold-cathode-fluorescent-tubes, their power-source(inverter type) and lcd monitor power supplys (SMPS) 5. Repair on your own. Not recommended for amatures with no solid state troubleshooting skills and no instrumentation for support. Bye for now. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aim.com

How to fix pink colur screen on sync master 794 mg samsung

The connecting cable or the video card would be the first suspects. Try a different cable to connect the monitor first, if there is no change, the video card in the computer would be second to look at. Can simply connect a different monitor to your computer to troubleshoot this. If the testing monitor works, it will be the graphics card that is the issue.
