HP dc 7600 red light 9 beeps

Hyjacker, Ransford decker ask 6 years later. ahhh , old BEEPs codes so old that HP even forgets them over 10 years old./ yours is now 13 years old first off is the Motherboard RTC coin cell dead, as all are this old? replace it first. a wise choice. that. on some HP code 8 is coin cell dead. did you count flashes wrong? the count matters. big time.... on AMI BIOS code 8 means Display memory error (system video adapter) later AMI BIOS code 8 means. ROM Checksum Error ROM checksum value does not match the value encoded in BIOS. this means COIN cell bad again. i see no code 9,s in my huge private lists of bios codes for 20 years. ok , reading all manuals, on this one PC i find this. "System not fetching code" now there is classic geek code, wow. my guess it means CMOS ram is corrputed. again the coin cell is bad. table.(fixha wrecked it, sux, no?) dc5100-n3m30lbuzl3urjnniajjqejj-2-0.jpg

Pc giving 5 beeps and no display

Could be a problem in the RAM. You can do a thorough boot-up RAM test with Memtest using a CD-ROM or a USB stick if your system is configured to boot on USB. Memtest86 Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

4 beep codes

I do believe your PC is toast! Buy one with tons of RAM and a huge Hard Drive for much needed memory or you can add an external drive that will store the bulk of your information. I’m happy to help further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/phillip_293d34ebcf028794

What Add2 card will fit in the HP 5700 small frame factor?

I understand that you want to add a second display to the HP Compaq dc5700 Small Form Factor PC. I had checked and found that the Video adapter features RAMDAC integrated (400-MHz); Controller Clock Speed: 667 MHz; Overlay Planes: One 16 bit video overlay plane; Max Color Depth: 32-bits/pixel; Multi-display Support: Support for one VGA and one DVI-D, in conjunction with an ADD2 card, clone and extended desktop modes are supported. It specifies that the clone and extended desktop modes are supported. You may try connecting the second display and check the operation. Also the computer comes with the expansion slots 2 low profile PCI, 1 low profile PCI Express x1 and 1 SDVO/ ADD2 connector. You can go for a video card that can be connected to the PCI slot. You can refer the link from Micrsoft for the information to How To Configure and Use Multiple Monitors in Windows XP

Power Supply

You can't start the computer remotely. The computer can start remotely if the BIOS is set to "allow Network devices to start computer" or similar actions. When the computer is booting up, usually you'll see an option to press F1, F2, Del, or another key to enter the BIOS. Make sure the settings are saved as you exit.If the computer is in Sleep mode, just moving the mouse, or pressing a key could wake it. In that case, lock the cat out of the computer room.

Restore factory settings

Try tapping the F11 key at system boot up (don't forget the function key if your keyboard has one) you should be taken to a menu that restores the system from a hidden partition on the drive. If that doesn't work, then try the following:Click Start [img src="http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf-JAVA/Doc/images/c01403500.gif" border="0">and enter in the search field. Select Recovery Manager from the list when it becomes available. Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
  • Alternately, click Start , All Programs , Recovery Manager , and then Recovery Manager . Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens.
  • Click Advanced options , System recovery , and then click Next . The PC will restart and reopen the recovery manager.Alternately, if Advanced options is disabled, click Next , and then System Recovery . The PC will restart.
  • When the PC restarts, select the System recovery option and click Next .
  • If prompted to use the Microsoft System Restore program, click No , and then click Next .
  • When prompted, select the Back up your files first (recommended) option, and then click Next . Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • When prompted to Recover without backing up your files , please STOP before clicking Next .WARNING:This is the final opportunity to change your mind about recovering the PC and deleting all the files and programs. Once you click Next , the restore process cannot be stopped
  • If you are satisfied that you want to begin the recover process, click Next . The PC immediately begins formatting the hard drive and destroying all data.

    Dc5100 processor upgrade

NO!Two Netburst based Processor cores on the SAME chipset?Get outta' here! When did they come up with that?OH, I'M JUS KIDDIN'!http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12145_na/12145_na.HTMLThe HP Compaq dc5100 Desktop PC uses an Intel 915GV motherboard chipset.Since we know that the Northbridge chip, of the motherboard chipset; handles the Faster capabilities of a computer;i.e., Processor, Ram Memory, and HIGH-speed graphics; let's look at the Intel 915GV chipset,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4.2FPentium_D.2FPentium_EE_chipsetsNo sir/ma'am.The Intel 915GV motherboard chipset only handles Single Core processors;Intel Pentium 4,and,Intel Celeron, and,Intel Celeron D.(With a 533MegaHertz Front Side Bus, or an 800MHz FSB)The Celeron D is NOT a dual core processor,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celeron#Prescott-256"The D suffix actually has no official designation, and does not indicate that these models are dual-core. It is used simply to distinguish this line of Celeron from the previous, lower performing Northwood and Willamette series, and also from the mobile series, the Celeron M (which also uses 3xx model numbers) Unlike the Pentium D, the Celeron D is Not a dual core processor."Yeah, I know. I'm just a 'Ray of Sunshine'.You know you can pick up a motherboard pretty cheap nowadays, that WILL support the lowly Pentium D, for not much money.Problem is you will need to replace Ram Memory also.By the time you get a motherboard chipset that supports dual core Processors (CPU), you are going to be using DDR2 Sdram ram memory, instead of the DDR Sdram ram memory you are using now.OK, Motherboard, CPU, and Ram Memory.Oh, the Power Supply. Won't do either.240 Watt unit, or 300 Watt unit?Sure.............OK.Back in the day those Power Supply's were made, Power Supply manufacturer's were 'fudging' the actual maximum rated Wattage.True Wattage was more like 60 to 70 percent of what was stated. Why?SOLD more Power Supply's.240 Watts? Simply divide by 10. = 24.For 60 percent, take 60 times 24. = 144 Watts70 percent? 168 Watts.300 Watts?60 percent is 180 Watts.70 percent is 210 Watts.I wouldn't try to run a Barbie doll with that low a Wattage, of Power Supply. (Barbie doll? What?)Need at least a decent 350 Watt power supply, from today's manufacturers. 80 percent constant duty cycle, for most good units; or higher.So...............Max out the Intel Pentium 4 CPU.4GB's of 533MHz DDR Sdram ram memory.(PC4200, or PC4300. Depends on the manufacturer as to how they name it)By the time you spend that much money, you may as well buy another Motherboard, Processor, Ram Memory, and Power Supply.Yes, may as well buy a better computer.I know. Quit trying to cheer you up.Around here we have Craigslist, and Ebay, for two places.Could pick up a better computer, for around the same money, as you would pay for all the upgrade parts above.Which is better? Upgrade the Processor, or upgrade the Ram Memory/For the better 'Bang for the Buck', upgrade the Ram Memory. The CPU (Processor) has a built-in cache.L1 cache, and L2 cache. (Newer CPU's have an L3 cache)The Cache is a small memory area for the CPU. It is the FIRST memory area the Processor (CPU) reads. This is because it operates at the same frequency rate, as the CPU does. (Frequency rate = 'Speed'. Operates at the same 'Speed')Next inline is the Ram Memory. Ram Memory -> typically, operates at half of the Processor's Front Side Bus. (FSB)This is why upgrading Ram Memory is a good idea.It isn't so much of getting Ram Memory, that operates at a higher frequency rate ('Speed'), as it is to have MORE ram memory.Example;PC3200 compared to PC4200.4GB's of PC3200 is better than 2GB's of PC4200.(DDR Sdram at 400MHz = PC3200)Moving on............Motherboard chipset:Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.Integrated Circuit,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_circuitThe motherboard chipset for your computer, consists of a Northbridge chip, and a Southbridge chip.{Motherboards that support the Intel Core i technology, (Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, etc), do NOT use this motherboard chipset technology. Neither do some of the AMD CPU's }http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svgAs stated previously, the Northbridge chip handles the Faster capabilities of a computer;Processor (CPU), Ram Memory, and HIGH-speed graphics. The AGP technology, and the PCI Express technology; ARE high-speed graphics.Using a graphics card in a PCI slot, or using Integrated Graphics; is NOT high-speed graphics. The slower capabilities of a computer are handled by the Southbridge chip.1) PCI Bus / Integrated Graphics.(Another term for Integrated Graphics, is OnBoard Graphics. A term that seems to have gotten lost.It explains better; ON the motherBOARD )2) IDE Bus3) SATA Bus4) USB Bus5) Ethernet6) Audio (Sound)Point?Look to see what the Northbridge chip is, as I have shown you; and you'll get a good idea of what Processor (CPU) support is.For additional questions please post in a Comment.Regards, joecoolvette(I get tired of looking on websites, that just say NO, and do not explain why )
