Will not power up

Power up issues is more likely your board or power supply. Motherboards have capacitors, check to see if it bulging or looks like it exploded from the inside. If every cap is flat and normal looking, then its good. Power supply issue, can be only be verified with another known good working power supply. But if you have a power supply tester, you can use that to determine if it is good or not.

I installed windows 7 home premium; now the sound card, previously used with XP, will not work .

Click start right click on computer select properties then device manager scroll to sound and video game controllers if you see a yellow question/exclamation mark or a red X the driver will need to update drivers. Click start right click on computer select properties then device manager scroll to sound and video if you right click on sound and video then on high definition audio device select update driver software. Click start control panel hardware and sound manage audio devices right click on your speaker select configure speakers. Right click on the speaker icon in the bottom taskbar you will see an array of options select playback devices make sure it has a green tick and the correct speakers are selected be updated if you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it although once speakers are connected widows 7 should automatically update the drivers. It says no audio device

Possible that the audio driver of the motherboard was corrupt and so will need to be reinstalled. If you have the CD install it from the CD and run it on the PC. If not download from the HP official site and run the driver to be installed. If there is no result as the audio does not work there can be errors in the OS or a possible hardware issue.

I can't get any sound on this computer. Mute is

Check if the sound card driver is installed. Check the device manager and see if there is any item with an exclamation point. You may also want to check if the speaker is working by connecting it to another device.

Bios Help? Motherboard? How to fix?

The most likely cause is your hard drive has stopped being detected for some reason. You would need to go into the CMOS setup utility and check and see if the drive is listed there. Usually there is a shortcut key you push like F1, F2, Del, F12 (it varies from computer to computer). Start trying these keys right after powering on the PC (within one or two seconds). The actual screens also vary from PC to PC, making it difficult to describe further clarification on what these will look like.

If you're comfortable with opening your PC you can check and make sure the power and data cables are securely connected.

Sometimes inexplicably the simple act of blowing all the dust and other crud out of a PC helps with this. If you haven't done that for a while...stranger things have happened.

If all else fails you may have to buy a new hard drive and re-install your OS. Before that I would recommend taking the PC to someone who can look at it in person and really determine the issue.

I can't get a cd out of my hp pavilion

CD Drives normally have a small pinhole which you can trigger to manually eject the drive. Do this:

1. Turn off your computer
2. Get a paper clip thin enough to fit into this pinhole at the front of the CD drive.
3. Insert the paper clip into the pinhole until you see the drive eject. You may need to push in the paperclip around 1 inch or so.
