Reseating the Element The broiler is heated using an electric element which should be clipped in to the top of the broiler enclosure. If this has come loose then it might not be making contact with the necessary terminals. Try to reseat the terminal but before doing so you must ensure that the electricity is turned off. Testing the Element The element is what heats up and cooks the food in the broiler. Over time the heat can damage the broiler element. These elements are supported by stand-offs and if the element burns out or becomes damaged then this can be a common reason why the broiler isn't working. The easiest way to test whether this is working is to turn the broiler on and look at the element. If it is working correctly then the element should be glowing red. Another slightly more complicated test for the broiler element is to remove the element from the oven and disconnect it. Then use a multimeter to check the continuity of the element. Set the multi-meter to measure resistance and then put it either side of the element. The normal measurement should be between 20 and 40 ohms. If the element is infinitely resistant then this means it's broken and will need to be replaced. Testing Oven Controls Another reason why the broiler will fail to work is because of problems with the oven controls. A thermostat is used to set the temperature of the broiler, and the oven selector controls are used to control the setting of the broiler. Turn the oven controls on to see whether the broiler is working properly. If not the controls can be removed and tested using a multimeter. Check the outputs to ensure that the controls are working correctly. These can also be replaced if required by fitting a replacement part designed specifically for your oven. I solved this. Its a vaccum flourescent display. The voltages that drive it are reducing because the capacitors on the control board deteriorate with temperature. Replace the 3 capacitors and its good as new.mine still working after 2 years...$.20 at radio shack...or have a repair place do it for you...saves $250 for a new board

Hi, i found out from Thermador customer service that error code F64 means that the lower fan switch (located inside the bottom trim on the right side) is not being detected as closed. In my case, this was because the header (P4) on the Display panel had broken loose from the PC board and was no longer making contact. P4 is where the lower fan switch wires connect to the control boards (actually the display panel).

The "F64" code on your model of Thermador double oven indicates the control has detected an error with the airflow for the lower oven ( all lower codes start with "6", upper start with "3" )

This could indicate a faulty blower motor, not coming on at all, or if it does come on and still initiates an F64 error it is likely the sail switch is sticking. It can be removed and cleaned as they do become contaminated with dirt, grease and dust over time.

The sail switch is located at the very bottom of the ovens where the grill is, under the lower door.

( F64 can also be initiated by a failed "K4" relay on the control board, but that is less likely )

It can be accessed by way of removing that grill, however it is something usually best left to an authorized B/S/H/ service provider as it can be quiet involved and is better to pull the unit from the wall.

**Turn off the 40 amp breaker to the oven before attempting any service...safety first**

You may have to pay a service technician out to fix this issue, if the update insulation kit was already added this could be causing the issue depending on if it was installed correctly.

This error code has to do with the air flow the fan is could have failed as well, the hall sensor that is built into the fan motor will often fail creating this issue.

You have not mentioned if the oven has displayed any error code so I will take that for what it is...there was none shown.

With that, the post heading has conflicting info about your model so I'll go with the most common based on the SEC302 ovens. I`d start by looking for an over-temp cut-out tripped. Since this problem started following a self clean cycle, it leads me to believe it is just that.

Here`s what and where to look for for this,

Fortunately if it is tripped, they are the manual reset type and are accessible behind the black grill/vent just above the door and just below the control panel next to the lock latch assembly.

**Turn off the 40amp breaker at your service panel or sub-panel in the home before attempting any service...safety first**

With the power off, you should be able to remove the grill and push the red button in the center of the thermostat and that should fix your problem...as shown here, If indeed the hi-limit is tripped you`ll know immediately because you`ll feel it click as you push it down. It will look like the image below...





Ultimately it could be a faulty relay board or related to the timer, but I`d start with the hi-limit cut-out tripped first.

Well in my professional opinion if I only had those two to chose from I would go with the Thermador unit Why ??? From a service point the parts are readly avib. and the replacement parts cost is less then the Dacor. from my recent repairs the Thermador is more of a heavy duty unit as far as the most options I think Daycor has it beat. I own Gaggenau units and love to cook as you it is just what I wanted. Just remember you get what you pay for and the best match is the unit that will give you the options that are most important to you Hope this helps.
