Price of canon Image Class D861...
Hi there,
This type of printer has been discontinued and is no longer available for general sale. You may be able to pick it up second hand, although this is not advisable as the price of the toner cartridges (the ink) is very expensive as they are probably not made any more either. It may be a better idea to go for a newer model of printer that hasn't been discontinued. I personally recommend the Samsung CLX 3175FN.
Good Luck!
John
I have an ImageCass D861
This is coming from 1 of 2 places. The first and most common is the toner cartridge itself. If you have a spare go ahead and replace it. If not you will need to get another cartridge and swap it with your current cartridge. This will correct the copy quality 9 times out of 10 on these machines. If a new cartridge does not resolve the issue then the only other cause is the fusing unit. The fusing unit is located right where the paper exits the machine. It heats up and uses heat and pressure to "fuse" the toner onto the paper. When the fuser film in the fuser starts to go bad they will start to run dirty and also "double image" where a part of the printing from the top of the page gets reprinted lighter at the middle/bottom of the page. Sometimes you may also hear a crackling sound coming from this area which can be a sign of the fuser film going bad. The fuser replacement is much more expensive to have done so let hope that the cartridge will resolve your issue.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Your scan lamp is going bad. It is the flourecent type lamp that lights up under the glass. You can try making a copy with the top cover open and watch it. You will see it flickering before the code comes up.
