I found this There is no specific driver for this drive. You can use a generic driver, I've done it before but cannot recall the exact driver used. It was either a Teac or NEC driver. You must select the driver manually in the device manager and it seems like an odd selection but it does work. If I can locate any additional info I'll update this answer. Toshiba allow cheapo makes to use their brand name sometimes.

So if the player is not a genuine Toshiba then there is likely to be a remote hack on the net some where.

If it is a genuine Toshiba then there wont be a remote hack and you will need somebody like DVD Chips to send you a £20 remote that will hack it.

However - many Toshiba machines will not play NTSC discs at all when first set up.

Check out the Video setup menu and you will see a PAL/NTSC/AUTO option.

Tosh's I've seen are preset to PAL but unlike other players the Tosh will spit out any NTSC discs you try to play- set it to AUTO

Check that setting first just in case that is the only thing stopping it

If the hack does work make sure the PAL/NTSC setting is on AUTO because R1 disc might still not play

rather than spending too much more time fiddling I'd simply Clean Reinstall the printer which always works, lasts longer and actually saves time: Power up the printer, if wired unplug it's USB cable from PC. Go to Settings>Apps>Apps and Features to find and Uninstall the printer software. Next type CMD in Start Search, right click Command Prompt result to Run as Admin, copy and paste in the following command and press Enter: printui/s/t2 (Note that there is one space before each forward slash).
