a 2006 relic mobo, the mobo has FIXED hard, chip called Vbus, and current is limited that chip, max. and is shared to say 4 USB ports. so is shared to get more current use external hdd its power pack, 2.5amps up 3.5" no Passport told we can not guess models of external drives, ever and matters huge some old mobo are 100mA limited and most external drives fail. lack of current. and can even wreck the drive is it goes made self booting and spin failling endless (super bad that) ok now the cure. easy buy a USB3 powered HUB that has a 1amp or more power pack bingo works. no OS told ,xp , w7 , vista, what, as settings are not the same most usb ports do no have manual power settings ever. so use hdd that has a power pack, 3.5inchj all do buy a usb powered hub

Your motherboard did not post . When this happens nothing works. Your card is probably good. But before we jump the gun, just make sure that it is not a power supply issue that is preventing startup. Try another known working supply to see if the mo bo works. If not, then it is a cmos issue

I screen is simply black, it is probably the RAM Remove the RAM, gelty clean it off and reinstall

Please check the cable of your keyboard. or change the port if its USB.

if same problem borrow one USB keyboard from your friends just to check whether your USB port is working or not.

if other keyboard is working, your keyboard has gone bad.

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error make sure that the cd rom is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the cd drive including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd rom then plug them back in or you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device Click start control panel administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer Close all open programs

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete After deleting the keys, close the registry editor Reboot your computer Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. Hi, Thanks for using fixya.

Not to much information here but I'll try and guess.

Shows up in device manager: Right click on the line with the Yellow ! or ? choose uninstall then reboot the computer and new drivers will be searched for the network card or the modem. If you know the name of the network card and modem do a search for the drivers. If you can't get online search from a friend's computer save the drivers to a flash drive.
