USB ports work at 1.1; s/b 2.0

Your computer is functioning correctly.
The USB ports on your laptop are USB1 ports its pard of the hardware.
Your PCMCIA USB 2 card runs at USB 2 speed and therefore when you connect a USB 2 device to this port you will not get this USB message.

Date and time error in new laptop

Hello Bhavathrini, have you tried changing it manually? What operating system are you using, exactly? If you say that the laptop keeps showing errors and does not execute any tasks, your operating system could be a victim of viruses. You should try and update your antivirus solution, or get one if you don't already have one. Best of luck!

After changing LCD display , Notebook don't start

Check the connections. Make sure that it was not a bad cable. If you had to replace the screen because of damage from a fall, there is a chance that it was more than the screen that was damaged

There is no sound intalled please help cant hear

Look on right bottom hand screen, find the speaker icon, right click on it. Got to properties, in the menu bars, make sure "wave" is turned up and volume is turned up. Make sure you pc isn't on mute.
If needed, go to k-lite website and download their free codec packages. This plays all formats for your pc.

You can also go into your device manager through system properties and make sure the sound and video cards drivers.

You can also try downloading quicktime player

I have the same problem

if you are using windows xp, then follow these steps:
1) right click "my computer" icon, select "advanced" tab, click settings button towards the right of "start up and recovery" and  click "edit" tab
a notepad window appears with some text in it which reads something like this :

[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /FASTDETECT

modify that text to look like this:
[boot loader]
timeout=0
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /FASTDETECT /3GB /userva=2800 /NoExecute=Op

Warning : only the "/3GB /userva=2800 /NoExecute=Op" has to be added extra else you will mess up

2) save the notepad and insert max ram, and check, if any BSOD's
if the problem persists, then it is hardware related..
Most probably one of your ram stick may be the problem child(which may be either incompatible with your motherboard or defective)

Best of luck...

Lenovo thinkpad R51e , when i power on the laptop it show error c

You need to set time and date in BIOS.
Press the blue Access IBM button when the message "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button" is displayed to enter the ThinkVantage Productivity Center, then select Start setup utility to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

Lenovo thinkpad R51e ,when i power on the laptop it show error271

This error message is generated when the BIOS Date and Time is incorrect. Go into the BIOS configuration to change the Date and Time. When you reboot and still get the same error message then the BIOS battery is flat and needs to be replaced and the Date and Time setting needs to be change to the current Date and Time after replacing the battery.
If you cannot get into the BIOS configuration (press F1 on bootup) or you get a lock icon in the top LH corner of the screen, this is a Power on Password symbol, enter the passsword to bootup the laptop and then press F1 to get into the BIOS configuration.

Hello, I would like to

On the bottom of the laptop there are one or two panels, remove the screw securing the panel. The RAM module are behind one of the panels. If the memory module does not fit in the memory slot, then you have the wrong type and you need to purchase the correct memory type.
Your friendly computer shop can advise you on the correct type and speed of the memory module your laptop requires.

Maxed memory or drivers causing R51e causing BSOD ???

you're mixing 2 different things. the cache is very small, 512KB , 1MB, 2MB 4MB(at the newest CPUs) and it comes with your CPU, when you change the CPU, you change the cache, you cannot work without the cache, its impossible.
the ram, however, is upgradable. and its typical sizes are 512MB, 1GB... etc.
have you updated the BIOS?
are the memory sticks fit for your computer (some times, the fact the memory sticks have different speeds can cause problems?

you are not suppose to see the cache (512kb) of your boot up

SL500 does nothing when power

remove the battery large. then run on AC pack only #1 top failure of all mobile PC is that battery, so unplug it then test with AC pack only. work now.? and all vents must be clean, end to end. not just fan. there i no fuse it uses current regulator, imagine genius magic electronics fuses that never blow out, and bingo. OK big battery out, an RTC coin cell fresh. then fan blows. next is BIOS, do the BIOS screens work if not the mobo is dead. have 2 RAM stick on the 2 slots>? try one at a time run the PC with all modules removed, (options) remove hdd? remove, dvd drive. think like this. Get bios working first learn that modules can short, and when they do the power regs shut down. so we unplug all things to the mob, until only 1 ram and cpu remains. see? (this is called power overload fault isolation tactics) even the screen only can be dead, you never mention text showing you can test the mobo with external screen via that rear (?)_ VGA jack what if that worked, did you learn something here, sure. this pc has tons of modules to pull, even bluetooth. wifi, sound and more. if you look at all parts inside or sold by ebay, bingo. lots
