Can't pick up channels itv, channel4/5 and itv2 on

hi when fitting an new aerial line you need to put a splitter in the line. 4963215_1-oo4k03phwtyaxld0gomgkgbv-2-0.jpg it looks like this. they say satellite/tv on them this will stop interference from the boosters and the tvs on the same line, you connect it on the main arial line. you can then use both boosters if signal is weak but most digital aerials are good enough without them. it you have the right arial for your area. there are meany sizes. but say you are 15 miles from your tower then use a small aerial has the same fitting as this pic. that is out side aerials, inside aerials ie in loft you need a high gain aerial , long type. hope this helps. also if the aerial is not lined up it will not get great signal there is an app you can use on iphone or androids, tables etc to help you position the aerial in the right place it's called Uk aerial alignment . tool on app shows you the towers in your area and the best ones to use and shows you the aliment to the tower for best results. good luck

My sylvania lc320slx tv works great for about 30 min

Possibly the capacitors in the power supply. You can identify the bad ones by their bulging tops. If you have the wherewithal, you can replace them for about $10.00 or less.

I had comcast before but

> I had comcast before but now i don't, don't use a converter box and somehow I was getting cinemax and other channels on the tv
Comcast was providing Cinemax and many other channels as part of your paid services and you will not receive these unless you are a subscriber. There is a good selection of free broadcast channels unless you live outside city areas. If you do, you will then need an external antenna and probably an amplifier to get more distant signals. Auto programming will not find the channels you were receiving from Comcast so there will be only accidental channel duplication; for example, if your former channel 10 was NBC, it may be channel 7 when receiving signal from an antenna.
There are essentially no more 'Analog' stations still broadcasting, they are now all 'Digital.' The abbreviations 'Std' refers to the aspect ratio (H/W) of the picture area and 'Hrc' and 'Irc' the available resolution or how many pixels and lines on the screen.

I am not sure if my tv is a 40 or 42. It is an

It may have dying power supply due to bad DC filter capacitors which cause unstable DC OUTPUTS, it will get worst. That will be the first place to look.
It can also be the backlights inverter board problem also. You need to do some troubleshooting to see if the backlights go away or you can still see slight glow on the screen.
Please try this when the picture goes out:
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow fromthe screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, thereason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulgingtop, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the powercable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without theinverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlightinverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do tofind out the causes of the problem you are having. If you are going to DIYand have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution thenplease read on: Basic LCD monitor and TVtroubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting http://www.fixya.com/support/r7406380-tv_training_manuals Failed TV and Monitorspictures: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com Parts: www.interliquidparts.com Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he canmake you a set of caps.Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use capswith low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONICFM or FC series.

Why does my le40r74bdx samsung

Most often, this symptom is a result of a failing POWER SUPPLY but a faulty LCD CONTROLLER (TCON) BOARD or a failed INVERTER BOARD can certainly cause very similar symptoms. Unfortunately, without a donor TV to swap parts with or a dedicated test rig, it can be very difficult to differentiate between these problems.

One quick way to test this is to remove the rear access panel on the TV and check the power supply circuit board for any scorched / bulging / leaking electrolytic capacitors. If you see any evidence of this, then replace the power supply circuit board with a new one, since this is the most often the source of the trouble.

Here are a few link to images which show what faulty capacitors often look like:

If your screen still glows bright when it is turned on but there is no coherent video image on it, then the problem could very well be the LCD CONTROLLER (TCON) board.

You can usually find replacement supply circuit boards online by searching for your TV's model number.

Here is a link to a source of replacement circuit boards for your model of TV (double check last 3 letters of model number) currently available from SHOPJIMMY.com:

http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-le40r74bdx/xeu

If they are OUT OF STOCK in the board you need you can always check EBAY as well.

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information and items at the website indicated.

The repair / replacement procedure is not extremely difficult if you have some basic electrical safety knowledge and some basic electronics / mechanical repair skills.

You will need to unplug the power cord from the unit, lay the TV screen side down on something soft and flat like a bed if necessary, and then remove the rear access panel or the entire rear cover as required in order to access the circuit boards inside.

When you remove the rear cover and access the circuit boards inside, just check the part number that is printed right on your circuit boards and confirm that they exactly match the ones provided in the Ebay listings. Also make sure that any part you order is labelled "TESTED WORKING" in the condition description. Any part with a condition description of "AS IS" is probably faulty itself as well.

Then unclip and remove the various electrical wire connectors leading to the power supply circuit boards. Then remove the screws securing the circuit board to the TV frame and then remove the power supply circuit board. Be sure to avoid touching any large capacitors on the circuit board which can retain a nasty charge even after the unit is unplugged.

Then just screw in the new circuit board and connect all the wire bundles to their appropriate connectors on the new circuit board and then replace the rear cover. Then plug in the power cord and test.

Here is a link to another Expert's solution to a similar problem which includes links to his excellent and informative set of LCD TV / MONITOR TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDES:

These guides will give you some idea of the various problems with LCD TVs and monitors and the associated repair procedures.
