It could be some issue in the box itself; e.g. signal/video processing circuit (some cable/satellite/set-top boxes develop weird faults in this area when they get hot which affect channel reception/signal). Resulting in 'digital interference' affecting pictures on-screen. ~ You could also try another device on your TV (e.g. a DVD player if you have one handy) and see if any issues occur on-screen. If the set does not exhibit the same behaviour with a DVD player, chances are your cable/satellite/set-top box is the likely suspect. (the above suggestion is simply to determine whether the problem exists in the TV, the box, or both) ~ If it is proven that the box is indeed the culprit, you may have to consider replacing it with a new one as these are cheaply designed and generally non-serviceable.

hi if you bring the menu up and it's clear then you have a tcon board fault, if the menu is the same as the picture then you have a mainboard problem, thanks shaun

I have repaired many of these over the years. Vizio s have regulators on the main board that have been failing causing this problem. You can verify that the power supply is working by the Vizio em-bloom lighting up on the front of the set. Hope this helps. :)

I believe this is the limit, physically altering the engineered base for this television may put it in danger of falling or breaking. It's a 40 inch LED TV and really not that heavy, perhaps you could look for a lazy Suzann type of base that you could put beneath the TV to give you more extreme swivel capability.

Replace main board.

If supported by your tv simple put a movie in the root of the USB stick in .avi or .dvix format then put stick in the tv and it would start the usb player function

Start by connecting a laptop or pc to the RGB connection to see if it's color then. Check power supp for bulging caps. If power supply okay and no color with pc/laptop then you need to replace the t-con board

This is problem with power supply board .You need to replace electrolytic capacitors in power supply.(see image).Good luck

Half side distorted means the problem lies between the TCON board and the LCD panel. Please check the ribbon cable between the TCON and the panel.

This is caused by the power supply, you can buy one on e-bay and change the board or if you know about electronics repair the faulty power supply

This can be caused by two things, the first thing to do is disconnect the LVDS cable from going from mainboard to T-Con board the small board in the top middle of tv with a metal plate over it. Clean the contacts of the cable and reattached the cable. If picture still the same the T-Con board needs to be replaced. In case of T-con Board replacement also check the power supply for bulging capacators because they can be the cause that the T-con board died.
