So the TV internal electronics for decoding the signal have failed. You could replace the TV. A cheaper alternative is to find a VCR or digital recorder that can take the satellite input in, and put the picture out on an HDMI cable to your TV.

Check and replace the main system control memory IC. It is faulty.

Check for any shorted boar/s in it.

If you have any Heavy duty speakers or anything with magnets near them, the magnetic field could do that ....

Dont know about this model but alot of tvs have little solenoids that go bad that triggers the power on your set,if you know some one have them replace it with an optic coupleror replace the solenoid yourself ,not that hard really

It can be bad sustain boards, it will require in-depth troubleshooting since you do not want to buy the wrong sustain boards or the power supply module.
Verify at least that the power supply and sustain baords do not have any bad caps with leaking/bulging tops first.

probably the pop was a fuse blowing inside that only controls the lamp should be an easy fix but open the tv at your own risk

Ofcourse you can. Do you see a small circular port above RGB/DVI? It is the headphones jack. You can connect that to either a pair of head phones or your regular computer speakers.

Sounds like a popped fuse or worse...a blown power supply.

Check with LG about service guides for you TV if you want to take a shot at locating and replacing these parts.

Sounds like, and no it usually take a professional to replace. Trust me there tiny parts in there. Some tv's takes speacial tools to take apart without damage them.

There are two possibilities; there is a hot-running component that is causing a protective circuit to trip or the power supply is failing. There are certain parts (particularly electrolytic capacitors) which have likely already lost value and the heat inside the unit is making them fail in their task and their recovery will be poorer as they continue to fail.
The supply is normally built on a separate board since these are often out-sourced by set manufacturers.
Unplug your set overnight to allow potentially hazardous voltages to discharge, remove the back panel of the set so you can see the guts.
Look for a smaller board with larger parts on it; some cylindrical (capacitors), others block-like and relatively large (chokes and transformers).
You should also see a relationship between the board and the incoming AC.
Check the board for a label or if not present, a stamped-on number.
Call the manufacturer's service center with your TV model number and the number found on that board and inquire about repair/replacement costs; if both are offered, they won't be that much different.
If you must buy a new board, don't dispose of the failed one as there are smaller companies that can repair it for less than the mfr. and then keep it as a spare as this problem will likely arise again.
