I downloaded a file to my desktop from my server

The file extension for your quark file is not being recognized as belonging to any any application installed on your computer or the file extension was lost when you transferred the file (in which case, you can rename the file and put the file extension back on, e.g. change MyFile to MyFile.qxp). I'm assuming that you still have Quark installed on the computer you are trying to open the file on. If not, you should install it, which will resolve the problem. You can try repairing an existing installation: Look in your control panel for programs installed on your computer. Click on the Quark installation to see if a change or repair option is shown for it. If so, attempt a repair, which may solve the problem.

I have QuarkXPress 6.5 and need to deliver files

I am not sure why they should not be able to open them as they should be able to be opened on 7 the only thing I would suggest is to make sure that the suffix of the filename ends in qxp e.g. filename.qxp however if the company is going to amend them in 7.1 and they are using a 7.1 xtension you may not be able to open them or the file may not render properly.

However if it is for proofing purposes you could send them an acrobat pdf file

Hope this helps.

How do you change the orientation of the tool bar

This review of the new version of Revit Architecture, which Autodesk started shipping earlier this month, is the third in a series of product reviews of architectural design applications in AECbytes, which started earlier this month with Nemetchek’s Allplan BIM 2008 Architecture and was followed last week by a review of AutoCAD Architecture 2009. The latter, by the way, has sparked off a very interesting discussion on the AECbytes blog about what is a BIM application and what is not, and what is the nature of “true BIM,” if there is such a thing at all. It is a discussion very relevant also to Revit—being one of the leading BIM solutions available today—and we will come back to it later on in this review. Let us first explore the various avenues along which Revit Architecture has progressed in this 2009 release.
To compare notes with previous releases, see the reviews of Revit Architecture 2008, Revit Building 9, and Revit Building 8. Those studying the evolution of Revit can even go as far back as Revit 7 and Revit 6 from the days when Revit was still a single application rather than a platform of multi-disciplinary products.

Cannot "save" quark 6.5 files, have to "save as" and rename

Have you tried the following

it could be that the file is locked go the file and single click on it go to the file menu and select get info. see if the file is locked, if it is unlock it

or do a "save as" in Quark and rename the file

it may be that when you have transferred your files that the permissions are not set properly. do the same as the file is locked above but look to see whether you are the owner and whether you have read write permissions. If you don't change or add yourself as the owner.

Hope this helps.

My keyboard will only type numbers not letters when activating Quark 7

Alan, good day. no PC told, makers name and model ( and super hard to guess me) quark 7 is an app for word press. i guess and is unrelated. ! no OS told, at all, windows (what V) MAC, android, Chrome, Linux? what OS? does the keyboard work in BIOS correctly then the keyboard is ok and the unstated OS is a wreck. or , (ESP day) the keyboard has 104 keys are you saying the all fail, NO. bingo below (MY ESP) or just the KEYPAD right side is wrong,(below numlock) but a 104 keyboard, PAD never does letters. ever on the PAD !!! so this must be (unstated) undersized laptop? that has those horrid, key PADS stuffed into the main A to Z board. set. and those are a pain, they have 3 levels, via FN key use. the manual on your PC shows who to USE the KEYPAD it shows on some how to set the way it works in BIOS settings one cure easy is buy external real keyboard 104 keys. bingo; or learn to use yours, via RTM read the manual, there are special Fn keys to use, no 2 PC do this same way, ever. (brand/model) got a PC like this,??? with super undersized keyboard. NO PC TOLD I guess and show this. a prime example the blue letters on this kbd , mean virtual keyPAD swift-undefined-undefined-0.jpg
