i have tried installing the driver hp37951but no help
Hello,
Some of these downloads and procedures are related to a Vista installation. Let me know if you have Vista.
The computer has a wireless button, one or more wireless devices, and one or two wireless lights, depending on model.
All of the wireless devices on your computer are enabled at the factory, so the wireless light is on (blue) when you turn on the computer.
The wireless light indicates the overall power state of your wireless devices, not the status of individual devices.
If the wireless light is blue, at least one wireless device is turned on. If the wireless light is turned off, all wireless devices are turned off.
NOTE On some models, the wireless light is amber when all wireless devices are turned off.
Because the wireless devices are enabled at the factory, you can use the wireless button to turn on or turn off the wireless devices simultaneously. Individual wireless devices can be controlled through Wireless Assistant software, link included bewo (select models only) or through the setup utility in your Start Menu/Programs.
NOTE If the wireless devices are disabled , the wireless button will not work until you reenable your devices.
Here's the driver location, you've been trying to install, again in case you want to download it again.
You may want to download the Wireless Assistant here.
For the Intel Pro Wireless go to this location and download sp38954.
For the Broadcom Wireless go to this location and download sp37950.
These are both for WindowsXP if you have Vista or an earlier version let me know and I'll pass those along.
If you have any questions, concerns or need for more information use the comment box below to reach me.

i want to remove a forgotten power on password in my Compaq nx6310
You can try removing the CMOS battery or take it in to a good shop they have the software tweaks to do that. I know most folks are avoiding the shops for a good reason however some things just are not avoidable and by the time you learn how to crack a lost password plus purchase the software program to do it. You will already be up and running for an hours time at a shop to reset it.
This is why it is critical to make a password reset disc right away or do not use a password that you will forget over time. I use the last four of my social when I use a password who can forget that.....
Another option is to re-install and re-boot the computer to its factory settings using your restore software that came with your purchase.............John

well hi again, i have a problem with the notebook: document.tlSearch.tx.value=unescape("") HP Compaq nx6310 Notebook PC i need a recovery disc since when i turn on the comp and when it get to the xp loading screen it shut down and turn on automatically, i think i need a recovery but since is not mine is from the school, they dont have one, so if someone can help me in anyway possible i will be very gratefull thank you
You can try pressing the F8 key at bootup to get the boot screen, and select the option " use last known good configuation" and press enter. if that dosn't work, you can do the same thing only select SAFE MODE and press enter, an that should get you into windows. then you an go t Start/accessories/systemtools/system restore, and restore th system back to a date before your problem started.

power on password on nx6310 hp compaq
Welcome to FixYa! You have a laptop that is one of few that HP provides a command line procedure for. Follow these steps and you will be able to reset that password. If you have forgotten the first password then disable it as for any other brand/model it is an unforgiving procedure to undo that action.
Resetting the Computer ( These steps also
clear CMOS):
1. Enter an incorrect password and press enter.
2. Repeat Step 1 two times.
After the third entry of the incorrect password, the computer
responds with a “System Disabled” message and provides an
override password.
3. Access MS/DOS by clicking Start > All Programs >
Accessories > Command Prompt.
4. Enter “unlock6 xxxxx 0,” where “xxxxx” is the password
generated by the computer in Step 2.
The computer responds with another system-generated
password. This password can be used to reset the computer
and clear all CMOS settings.
Please post back if you need further assistance or simply rate a FixYa for me if you are successfu. Steve Medley
