Will not boot and will not go into setup
Are you allowing the computer to boot the cd or are you pressing a button? If your pressing the button then allow the computer to read it when you boot and try running that. If that doesnt work, go into the BIOS and change the settings to boot off the CD instead of the harddrive.
HP Compaq nc 6120 - it is stuck - curser is halt
sounds like you have something stuck on your touchpad controller.
You could plug in an external mouse and try to shut off your touchpad while putting pressure on the case long enough to get to mouse file in your control panel folder.
You will probably have to take the cover off and look for stuck switches or maybe something spilled on the touchpad itself that is gumming things up.
good luck and be careful.

Power surge on usb hub port in compaq nc 6120
Yeah--I've seen that before and perhaps you can check it out by unplugging all USB devices and restarting the computer. If you still get that message, go into your control panel and under device manager remove all the USB devices. Restart the computer and let it find the devices again. If the problem persists, you have a motherboard issue. Might be OK, but if you can isolate the particular hub that is giving you the problem, avoid using it.
Hp nc6120 will not start power led blinks 7 times
simple.allow someone to dismantle everything for you( a specialist or a pc technician will do)check the cpu, fans and heatsink, clean them and apply thermal compound.assemble all the parts together after cleaning then reboot.problem solved!if it doesnt work, check the laptop battery, power supply as well as the hard drive, that might be the bottleneck of that problem.
I turn my laptop on and its black
Power drain would be a better solution in this case.
1.first shut down the comp
2.unplug the charger
3. remove the battery
and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer
It keeps saying power surge on hub port
Hi:
This message will come up if you plug in too many USB items that need higher power, such as a laptop cooling pad, and a external hard drive, for example.
I had a hear injury an when i got home i forgot my
Hello there
i found the manual for this laptop and it i did a search on the net and everythng that i found is telling me that if you do not have or forgot either your user password or the power on password you are supposed to contact the computer manufacture technical support for password reset instructions
But if you boot into bios you should be able to either disable the password section totally
or simply erase the existing password and if you want to create a new one it will give you the option for this you dont have to enter anything just hit the next or continue and confirm this and than save and reboot the machine ok?
I hope that this is very helpful for you
Best regards Michael
On my compaq nc6120 the menu keeps popping up even
Check that you do not have a key sticking on the keyboard and that the right mouse button is not stuckor defective. If not then reinstall the mouse driver and if possible try another mouse as it could have a cable fault.
When I start my HP Compaq nc6120 I see the message
If your laptop is new and you have never taken a backup disc, you may
receive this alert. The backup disc is to help at times when your hard
disk crashes and the recovery partition gets destroyed, you can safely
reinstall from the Factory backup disc. And BIOS has no link with this
issue. You need not update the BIOS.
Trying to fix this kind of notebook, seems that it
in the setup utility, make sure the boot sequence is set to check the cd drive and then the hard drive in that order. hit f10 to save your settings and reboot. if your hd section is grayed out, then the system isn't seeing the hdd and it's probably bad.
My Hp laptop displayed horizontal lines
To check if problem is with the hardware, restart your laptop and keep pressing f2 key - this will let you to go into the bios. in case you see the lines in the bios - it is hardware problem and you would need to service your hp. it it is out of warranty - try and fix it yourself. disassembke that and refit display connection cable. this will fix the problem. if not - graphics card fault and you need to change mainboard. which is costly. if that will be beyound economical repair - just sell it on e-bay, you can get good price even for faulty stuff.\thanx
Laptop powers off by itself after running for
Hi,
Sounds like the computer is set on a powersaving plan, go to the control panel and select power options, in that window check to see if the display is set to go off after a certain length of time and check that the hard drive is not set to go off after 30 minutes.
If they are set to power down after 30 minutes or so set them to NEVER go off, click apply and then OK and wait and see if it does it again.
If it does please post back.
Good luck.
Wireless and bluetooth won't turn on
To kickstart the wireless and make it work again on the nc6120's.
Turn on the computer and hit F10 to go into the BIOS.
Go up under File and choose Restore Defaults.
Save your changes and reboot your OS.
If your using Windows, you should be able to pick a wireless network now.
If you previously had a WEP or WPA pw key set, you may have to re-enter
it again as it was cleared out during the reset.
