Lots of people are doing this and part depends on what your home theatre has to offer in the way of connections.

With laptops you haver to tell the laptop to use other displays This is usually FN + F5 or FN + F6

For sound most use the LINE OUT on a computer or laptop and connect that to a suitable input on the receiver using a 3.5mm to stereo phono lead.

If you are lucky enough to have an OPTICAL sound out on your computer and one on the home system that would be a better option.

For the video side again it depends on what your computer has to offer

If it has DVI and your TV or home system has DMI then that is the very best option. Remember to lower the resolution on the computer first and to check and of your graphics card options for dual display. A DVI to HDMI lead is needed for that

NVIDIA graphics cards seem to work best in this area.

If you have a VGA connector on your TV that is another great option and you would only need a VGA lead.

Some cards and laptops have S-VIDEO out. Lots of TV's and home systems have these and the display is quite reasonable. If using S-video connections use a GOOD quality cable.

Some people can only obtain a black and white picture so check your graphics card did not come with any special adaptor.

Another method is composite video Even that is not always 100%

Some laptops need a special S-video adaptor which is just a short little cable to properly enable the S-video and convert S-video to composite. That is probably the worst way to do it.

Using a VGA to component lead is also an option but results vary wildly from no picture to quite good. A lot depends on the quality of the lead once again.

I use the optical sound and DMI lead to power a 50" Sony with great sound and picture.

If those drivers are unacceptable, go to device manager and look at the adapters. Write down thier manufacturer and try going to their website for their latest drivers for your particular operating system. If that doesn't work, you can try to uninstall the device from the system and reboot, this will force windows to install the device and load drivers for it. Reboot afterwards.

sounds as if the laptops in hibernation or sleep mode.
Try refering to the user manual regarding the mentioned points.
also try alternating the memory from slot to slot, 1 faulty slot or ram module, will cause the computer not to boot.
Finally, if this is a model that has a ribbon-cable from power switch, to motherboard. ensure it,s inserted correctly/square et,c.

A Windows system file is corrupt.
The best thing to do is reinstalling the system.
This can be done either using original recovery CD, or using Windows setup disk.

To preserve your data you will need to chose partial recovery or upgrade setup.

Windows XP CDs has also a tool called Recovery Console that can be used to repair this kind of problem.

Here the procedure to fix the problem using Windows Recovery Console:

• Insert Windows Setup CD, then start the computer.
• When Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R.
• When asked, chose the Windows installation you wish to repair (eg 1) , then press Enter.
• When prompted, enter the administrator password .
• When command prompt (DOS screen) starts, enter the following commands./ (if C: is not your Windows system drive, then change the drive letter)
  ATTRIB -H -R -S C:\BOOT.INI
  DEL C:\BOOT.INI
  BOOTCFG /REBUILD FIXBOOT
• Remove the Windows CD from drive and restart computer.

Try this, copy and paste to your internet browser address bar and hit enter. It is the service manual for your laptop. You will need adobe reader or equivalent to read the pdf file. try it first though.

try to check or update the driver of your sound card..

Have you pressed any shortcut keys of you laptop for outputting signal to projector? Have you installed any software recently? Feel free to visit digitalsupporttech for getting help.

maybe its set from bios to start at a certain temp ...get bios settings to optimal default ...

either it has a temp protection set on bios.....and its shuts down when it reach on that temperature ....( i mean the CPU ) ..in this case just go to bios set-up ...on boot by pressing del and remove any temperature limits if it has ...or try also to restore the default (manufacturer settings) from there ..if you arent able to locate that temp cpu limitator
if after this it still does that ..it means that your cooler either do not work anymore ...but inthis case the shuting down should be almost imediate after boot...either do not work proper...and it needs to be replaced...
but my money will be on the top temperature seting from Bios...and it is shuting down auto when get to that temp ..

if you have restore cd's I would just restore it to the factory settings to see if this helped. If it doesn't then I would test the hard drive next to see if it has gone bad. Just remember that when you restore all documents, pictures etc will be gone

Try to uninstall live messenger from the control panel. Anyway, live messenger is easy to install and its free and need not a serial number for it. If your computer is so much packed with programs and files you need to open one web site per session. This is one of the factors perhaps of draggy live messenger. Well, anyway, try to uninstall the program.

There should be a small hole on the face of the drive that will allow you to use a straitened paper clip or a pin to open the drive manually. If there is a disk in the drive it may have come off the spindle jamming the tray. After you get the tray open see if the drive will read a disk and operate properly with the button or software command to open. If nether will open the drive the problem is most likely hardware if the button will open the drive but you cannot open it with a command then the driver is most likely the cause and should be available from Acer.

The CPU voltage in no way can be 1100 V, let us say about 1.100V? There are a lot of undercooled computers that people have bought. In fact of the ones that I have checked, they all needed just a little more cooling than to be pulling your hair later. You are lucky that you have a laptop. The laptops are the most overheated, to the point that some people came up with add-on cooling trays and other gadgets. I think that it would be ashamed to have your pride and joy go to an early grave because some dxdxd (to the cube) engineer let the marketeers insist in the smaller erything. Now, your only way to get some life out of them is to use one of these cooling trays. You don't have to buy it, you can make your own. The construction I have seen is very simple. Sounds like Hardware fault but I have found a number of laptops where they were infected, So ot be sure start the laptop in safe mode by pressing F8 every 4 sounds a couple of times select safe mode, did the laptop shutdown? Regards GeWiz
