Listen, Jennie, the best route for you is to simply reinstall the software that came with your Dell or use the backup disks that you were advised to make. Assuming you made them, all you have to do is go into your bios and make sure that your optical drive (cd or dvd) drive is set as the first boot up device. Then pop in the disk and follow the prompts. If you did not make the disks or have any Dell disks you may be able to get the software from Dell directly. OR check among your peers to see who has an XP OS install disk. It means there it is not finding an operating system ie: Windows. If it was working before it may be as simple as you have a cd in the drive it's trying to read or your hard drive has failed and you will need a new hard drive and will have to reinstall Windows.
