Dryer not geting hot
if there's a bottom panel remove it or if there's a plastic cover on the front panel pop it off with a screw driver so you can see the ignitor, start the dryer,is the ignitor glowing red?if the flame lites for like the first 15 to 30 minutes and then shuts down you have bad gas coils, they fail when they heat up when they are bad or if the ignitor glows but no flame it also is the gas coils or a bad gas valve but most likely the coils, they are located on top of the gas valve, unplug the dryer, remove the two phillips screws that hold the cover on top of the coils, remove the cover and change out the coils. part number for coils 279834.on the larger coil there's a spacer on the post that the coil slides onto,if you don't see the spacer check the hole in the coil and you'll find the spacer, poke it out and slide it back on the post and then slide your coil onto the post, also there are holes in the metal cover that line up with the top of the bumps on the coils if you forget how they go back in.just do one coil at a time so you don't get confused.if the ignitor isn't glowing then you have to find out what part is bad with a meter,it could be the ignitor, sensor that is to the left of the ignitor,or the thermal fuse located on the blower wheel housing.also you could have a bad timer or a bad motor but most of the time it will be the ignitor, sensor or thermal fuse.if you haven't cleaned out the dryer or the vent line in over a year i would go right for the thermal fuse,if the lint filter is on top it will be in the back of the dryer, part number 3392519.if the filter is inside then it is up front, unplug the dryer,if it's in the back look for a white piece with two wires coming off of it to the right of the duct that the lint filter slides into,if it's up front it will be on the right side of the blower wheel housing on top,you have to remove the duct that the filter slides into to get at the fuse, it could be part number 3390719 and it's the one on the left side the other on the right next to it is a thermostat.whenever you check a part with a meter you have to remove at least one wire to get the correct reading.if the fuse was bad you have to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, vac out the cabinet where the motor is,if you have a shop vac you can put it on blow and blow off the motor and blow the lint from the back to the front so you don't have to remove the drum and belt.then go outside and check the vent out there to make sure it's clear,go back inside and remove the vent line from the back of the dryer and if it's a long run blow out the vent line with a leaf blower,it will blow out anything that's inside the line to the outside, you should do this anyway even if the fuse is good.if the fuse is good then with a meter check the ignitor and the sensor, you can set the meter, touch the leads together and you should get a reading, then pull at least one of the wires off and check the sensor and the ignitor, when you touch the wires to the part you're checking if it stays on number one the part is bad,if you get any reading then the part is good, change out the bad part, clean out the dryer and you should be all set.it sounds like alot to do but it shouldn't take you no more than an hour to do this,if you clean the dryer once a year your clothes will dry on time, your dryer will last longer and you'll save money on your gas and electric bill and mostly no fires.let me know if you need any more help, good luck and happy new year.you'll save over 200 hundred bucks by going this yourself
