Hi, If you have a gas dryer.

If the motor is running you need to determine if the glow ignitor is coming on.

On the front of the dryer in the lower left corner is a small plastic square, pry this square piece off.

Start the dryer in a heat cycle and watch through the window.

- If the ignitor glows for a while then shuts off and no flame appears the problem is the gas valve coils.

- If the ignitor glows and does not stop glowing the problem is the radiant sensor

- If the ignitor does not glow and you hear a 'clunk' every few minutes from the area close to the small window you are looking into then the ignitor is bad.

- If there is no glow and no clunk the problem is most likely the thermal fuse or thermal cut off.

- the thermal cut off trips if you have a venting problem and there is inadequate air flow

Sorry this is so lengthy, but there is a lot that can cause the symptoms you described.

your pilot need to be check , most likely it is old and need to be change.
if it is old it will go on but not strong to signal the gas to kick in so it just go on for a few second and then when it feal no gas it turn off.
if your gas supplay is good then thats your problem the ignitor (pilot) good luck

long dry times are a venting problem. if no heat at all it could be your ignitor, a thermal fuse, or the secondary gas coils, all are replaceable and reasanoblyy cheap between 30-90 dollars usually so its up to u it u want to repair it.. if long dry times i would unplug the venting from the rear and dry a load if it heats faster than u know ur venting is clogged and u might wanna clean ur ducting and replace that venting tube. also u can go outside while running and see or feel if air is being pushed out while its running hope this helps let me know how it goes

A dryer either heats or not heat . You have a vent blockage or vent hose kink . Pull the dryer out and remove the vent hose . Dry a load and see if it drys ok . If so , check the vent if it goes thru the wall to outside , or if goes up thru the ceiling , may have to get a cleaner ( line and brush ) at Home Depot .

clean your vent that goes out side Thats what does that the hot air dosent go outside but comes back on the temperature control and shuts the heat off. Also if you put wet close it it the lint will be built up behind the fan. You have to lay the dryer down take the back off and fron the bottom on the left side is the vent foller the hoe to the left. there is four 5/16" screw hokling that tub on thake those screws out and raise that unit enough to get you hand to the fan blades and you will find two hands full of linte matted there.
clean that out dryer need good air flow be sure to pull youi vent out the top and clean before each dry.

from the back. you will be able to access all the working parts, or non working parts for that matter from there.

The problem is your dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. The parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace.There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same.You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

This could be a couple of things.
First I am assuming that this is a gas dryer.
The most likely is the coils on the gas valve are failing your description of problem is a classic coil failure. However not very likely but this could be the gas valve or the flame sensor.
If I can help you further please let me know. For any further help I will also need an exact model #.

you need to clean out the dryer.unplug the dryer,remove the vent line,if it's a long run from the back of dryer to theoutside vent i use a leaf blower to clean out the line,make sure the outside vent isn't blocked with anything before you blow out the line.next you have to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is. do this once a year so you don't have a fire and your clothes will dry on time and less parts will fail on you.let me know how you make out.

start by checking for 240volts at the plug,if you have power then check the heating element and check for continuity on the heating element,then if good,check the hi-limit and cycling switches if one or both are present on the element case,then on the dryer vent near the exhaust check the thermal fuse as if any of these switches opens up or the thermal fuse opens you wont get any power to the element to make it heat,you can bypass all switches and thermal fuse to test,if it operates just replace that component,but do not leave bypassed as these are all for fire safety

As the clothes gently toss about inside the drum, a temperature control thermostatic disk regulates the heat. It is set for 160f for cotton and it mounts on the blower housing. As air is drawn into the drum and out the backside of the dryer the heat is regulated by this control. It sends 120 volts to the gas assembly. Right next to it is a fuse. The duct fuse is set to blow at 250f. Should that control fail to open and allow for heat to build to abnormally high temps. Note: the fuse will kill the heat source only on most dryer, the dryer will however continue to run. Lint and vent blockage can restrict the airflow and make the heat inside build to dangerous levels.The control thermostat powers up the heat for a minute then shuts down for a few minutes, then repeats this all throughout the drying process, the gas does not stay on! That would burn the clothes. If both of those items check ok and the dryer vent and lint has been cleaned, I next take a look at the gas assembly. I check the flame sensor first. If the flame sensor is open the ignitor will not glow. If that turns out to be good I next check the ignitor itself for continuity. If it turns out to be good I replace the coils. Those coils cannot be checked because they do not act up until energized. Sometimes the coils will work, get hot and fail, cool down and work again.
