Whirlpool ultimate care ii dryer. Drying a load

this has gas coils on top of the gas valve the flame might ignite for the first 10 to 15 minutes but if the coils are failing you won't have any flame after they heat up,when they cool down they will work again so i would say you have bad gas coils, easy fix, remove the two phillips screws, remove the top cover, remove the connectors off of the coils and reinstall the new coils, watch out for the large coil, there's a spacer that slides onto the post,if it's not there poke it out of the old coil and slide it back on the post and then slide the large coil onto the post,i've gone in and found this missing on some dryers that the customer had changed out the coils themselves before,it will still work but it can chatter alot.also while your in there remove the thermal fuse and the cycling t-stat both on the blower wheel housing and make sure there's no lint buildup on the back of them,if so just clean them off and you'll be fine

Dryer trips the GFI

It sounds as though some component in the dryer has a high resistance short to ground. Not enough to burn it up, but enough to allow the current in the hot leg of 120VAC to be greater than the current through the neutral leg.

It is also possible that the ground is a low resistance short to ground. Have you tried to temporarily plug the dryer into a non GFI outlet (use a heavy duty extension cord)? If so, does the breaker for that circuit trip?
DO NOT LEAVE THE APPLIANCE CONNECTED USING AN EXTENSION CORD! THIS IS ONLY TO TEST THE APPLICANCE FOR A HIGH RESISTANCE SHORT.

Either way, I would be suspect of the motor first, and the pilot igniter circuit 2nd. Please provide more information as to what you find in the test above.

Where do you look for the igniter

Most of the igniters are located in the lower front area of the dryer. You need to remove the top cover from the front area , using a spatula to Pop it open (don't forget to remove the filter if its located on the top, Including the two screws that hold the base) . Then you need to remove the front plate by removing two screws from the inside upper Area . The igniter is a ceramic fuse that will click and glow completely Red and ready for the gas to create the flame and heat for you dryer. If you model has a bottom front cover only and after you remove it ,then it will be easier to observe The actual process of the igniter if it is working properly . Good luck

Whirlpool gas dryer lg7681 heat

There are several thermal safety fuses in dryers which once blown have to be replaced. But, more importantly, they normally blow for a reason and simply replacing one without resolving the underlying problem of overheating will simply cause another failure. Lint is the normal culprit; vacuum and forced air to clean everything out. WITH THE POWER CORD UNPLUGGED and the leads temporarily disconnected, check continuity on each of the thermal fuses (they look like a stainless steel hat that might fit on a Barbie doll. Some dryers have four or five.).

Can I use a lint

Hi,

Yes and no....

Do not place the kit immediately off of the dryer...give it at least a few feet of space from the dryer to the kit to let it cool down a bit before getting to the kit.
Make sure to check it often and keep the hose and the kit clean....if it clogs up it will cause things inside the dryer to go bad...

Take a bit of care and install it properly, keep it clean and you will be happy with it.

My front loading whirlpool duet

It appears your thermistor (thermocouple) or gas valve solenoid has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
