Inglis gas dryer heat loss

It sounds like you have an intermittent gas valve. The ignitor is calling for heat however the gas valve doesnt want to open.

Make sure you turn off the gas and unplug before replacing.

Check for leaks after you reassemble.

Black spots in cloths after drying

Gas or electric dryer?

If gas, I would be suspect the black spots are carbon, which, based on your describing that when you clean the interior of the drum, the spots return, is coming from the burner area.

1) If the above is correct, then call quit using the dryer serviceman immediately before continuing use.
2) If your handy repairing things, you will need to remove power from the unit, and access the combustion chamber from the backside of the appliance for cleaning.

This will be a messy job, as carbon black is messy. It comes from incomplete burning of the gas as it goes into the combustion chamber. This is normally caused by restricted airflow into the combustion chamber, and that cause is difficult to identify without looking at the unit. Best thing is to just clean the unit up real good, removing any lint buildup and carbon that can be found, and confirming that the proper orifice is installed (is this an LP dryer operating on natural gas, or vice versa.). Once cleaned and all repairs made, you will need to operate the dryer with old, clean rags in the drum for several cycles until you are certain any residual carbon has been blown through.

Whirlpool gas dryer motor wont turn over

If the drum is not turning, then the belt may have broken and could be (because of the noise I think your describing, partially wrapped around the motor pulley.

Modern gas dryers do not have standing pilot lights. They are electronic ignition.

Chances are, you solve the belt problem, you'll solve the (I guess your having) heat problem.

Please respond with more detail of the problems you are having, and advise if the belt is broken.

Check that the vent duct is not partially clogged, reducing airflow. Overtemp sensor will shut the gas down after a period of operation when this condition exists.

When I push the start

try to turn it by hand both ways if it doesn't then you have to try and free it. If it's not jammed you are going to need a motor.

TOO LONG TO DRY

If your dryer is heating up when first started then your problem is a obstructed dryer vent ether between the dryer and wall or where ever the exterior vent is. On the inside make sure the vent have no kinks in it. Go outside and check the flap in the vent make sure it's clear from obstruction you should feel a very good force of air in that vent when the dryer is running. And final check your lint screen and make sure it has no lint impact on it and run it under water it should not pool up if it does use a tooth brush to clean it. Hope this helps you

ELCTRIC DRYER NO HEAT JUST COLD AIR

There is a thermal fuse its location depends on the dryer if the filter is on the top then you have to take off the back panel and check the white fuse. If the filter is inside the dryer you have to take off the bottom panel. a flathead screw driver for the 2 clips the check the white fuse behind the lint trap (where the filter goes).

Whirlpool gas dryer, GGQ8821LL0 runs but does not heat up at all.

It's most likely your thermal fuse have you cleaned out your vent lately? if it is blocked you probably blew the thermal fuse or high limit.
