Whirlpool 24 in. ADP6940 Dishwasher - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Whirlpool dishwasher fe error code
I had this issue with a Whirlpool Dishwasher. I could move the water float valve up and down, and the machine would run a cycle before acting up again. I ran a dishwasher cleaner through it (The one from Finish) and they problem went away! I have always ran the Afresh dishwasher cleaner, but I guess it is not as good as Finish! Conclusion, if you can get it to run a cycle, then try using the Finish Dishwasher cleaner, and see if problem disappears.
We have a whirlpool adp 5440 and the start button
The start light is flashing. I checked the bottom of the dishwasher and saw a black pipe coming out of the electric motor is leaking.
Is it possible to replace only the pipeline or have to replace the entire engine?
I have an error code f4 on my whirlpool adp 8966
F4 indicates draining failure.Your washer drain pump starts and after 4 minutes the OWI(optical water indicator) detects that mashine is 'not empty'
Posible mailfunction reasons:
The drain pump must be defective/blocked
The siphon would have got closed
The control board would have got damaged
OWI defective
What does F6 mean?
The dishwasher can't take on water. Check that the water inlet is properly connected, the stop tap valve is open and that water supply is otherwise available to the dishwasher. Also check for kinks or blockages on the water hose.
F6. means "Water valve (WV1) is switched on but flow meter (FM) senses no
impulses" (less than 10 impulses in 10 secs) and the water indicator (WI) is at a
low level
Water Valve Closed. Water inlet hose blocked.
Water inlet
valve (WV1) defective. Flow meter (FM) defective (leads to FM failure)

Hi
When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to
check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch
assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As
the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water,
thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong
position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling.
Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float
switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the
hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the
water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve
is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check
continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then
you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is
fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...

It dos not rinse as well as before
Check that the arms spin freely when spun by hand, then check the outlet jets at the trailing end of the arms are not blocked with food particles and other solid matter. This often happens and the arm is unable to turn because the water jet that is supposed to drive the arm does not have the force to rotate it with the result is that the upper dishes do not get enough water. It may also cause water to continue dripping onto dried dishes after the the drying cycle has stopped.
Hello I get an F8 error message could you help
This is a failure of the water level during the whole cycle. The wash pump can be running but the water indicator is switching in and out due to not enough water, there is less than 1 litre of water in the appliance, there is an over sudsing issue (too many soap bubbles) which is effecting the WI (water indicator). This can also be caused by low water pressure from the circulation pump. Try pushing and holding the start button to reset the program and try another cycle. If it happens again you can try replacing the pressure switch that should be located behind the right side panel, its a round part that has a thin hose and a couple of wire connected to it. Hope this helps

Hi Jodie,
An F6 fault code - indicated by the green light flashing in sequence next to the start button - is indicative of a water inlet problem.
First of all check that the water tap the dishwaher connected to is fully open. If this does not work check that the feed pipe from the water source to the appliance is not blocked.
If neither of these two things are the problem then you will need to order a new flow meter/ reed switch and this will sort your problem out.
The Whirlpool UK spare part number you'll need is 481241868368
Hope this helps

Keeps flashing f 7 when start and beeps
I had the same problem with this model The F7 fault means that not enough water is getting into the machine at start. This could be due to a number of things, but start with the simplest solution first.I managed to solve the problem simply by first turning off the power to the machine(un-plugging). Then turning off the water supply to the machine usually by means of a small shut
-off valve near the end of the inlet hose(or the start, depending on your perspective). Where the supply meets the grey hose, there is a bulbous piece of hose where the two are connected. This is the pressure inlet valve which can be opened using the appropriate sized wrench,(any adjustable wrench will do,cheaper the better). Once removed look inside the end and you will see a little mesh filter which can be removed with a little effort. It is sturdy enough to withstand a bit of coaxing. The holes of this filter are very fine and designed to catch small particles before entering the machine. Even if it appears clean, poke every pore with a pin head and rinse thoroughly and repeat if necessary. Re-insert the filter into the pressure valve, reconnect the hoses.Plug in the machine and away you go. If the machine starts to beep continuously as soon as you switch on,you will have to reset the machine. This is done by 1 Pressing the ON button and then 2 pressing and holding the Start button for 5 seconds. You will hear the machine draining for about 30 seconds. When the machine stops, switch off for 30 seconds, press ON button, then press start.Hope this solves your problem. It worked for me.

Green light
Hi
If clean light is blinking 7 times then it may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump. If yes then please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back for further assistance.

Hi, I live in Victoria,
Possible failure of the main program controller unit. It can be a failure of the board that makes the program to go over to the next cycle.
You have to remove the panel, main board and check for any dry joints, loose connection or visible damaged parts on the board. If not the board has to be replaced,
Fault code F6 on whirlpool adp6940. what is it?
Hello there
F6 error code - The dishwasher can't take on water. Check that the water
inlet is properly connected, the stop tap valve is open and that water
supply is otherwise available to the dishwasher. Also check for kinks or
blockages on the water hose. if all is good than you may have a problem with the solinoid valve for the water or the cycle timer may be faulty and the door switch may be bad or not working properly so
you will want them checked for ohms and resistance if they are found bad they need to be replaced
Code f7 appearing on whirlpool
f7 means a water flow meter problem. Either your dishwasher is not getting proper water pressure, or the flow meter is bad. Check to make sure you have good water pressure to the dishwasher, and then check that your water is coming in at a good flow rate. If both of these are ok, then replace the flow meter. If your house water pressure to the dishwasher is good, but your water flow coming into the dishwasher is slow, then your dishwasher water valve is probably plugged. Some valves you can take apart and clean out, and some you will need to replace. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists
Hi...I also have ADP6600 whirlpol
Are you please able to confirm which light is flashing when it stops mid cycle.
Does it do the same with some of the shorter cycles like rinse?
How do I clear the cycle
read the machines instruction book it tell you or go to the makers web page they will tell you.adrian.,,,,,,
Not cleaning
with dishwasher empty pour in two cups of white vinegar and then run the longest hottest cycle.
this will thoroughly clean the dishwasher. Then start rinsinig the dishes before u put them in and also use the potscrubber cycle all the time as this is the hottest water. J.
