Ice maker makes hollow ice

Not enough water. Check water filter if you have one and replace. Check water inlet valve pull supply line off of water inlet valve and make sure the screen in the water valve is not stopped up. make sure water line is not kinked.

Our Marvel icemaker was working great then it starting making ice at a much slower pace. It is not make ice no where near as fast as it was. What could be the problem?

Could be a dirty condenser coil, blocked return air, if the ice machine is in a warm environment it takes longer to make ice, water temperature if it is warmer it will take longer to make ice. if water inlet valve is letting water seep buy during freeze cycle it will take longer to freeze.

I need to defrost my ice maker. How do I do that?

Marvel usually have an "On" , "Off", and "Clean" selector switch. There are a couple of ways I know of to defrost. 1. Turn the unit off and leave the door wedged open for 24 hours. 2. Get a hose and connect it to another water source, preferably hot water, and melt it off.

Ice lays on the top

Hi kyja,

The ice gets formed on the coil undercairrage, an then gets melted off, to fall through by using the hot gas valve to push hot air into the coils.

I believe your problem is either the hot gas valve, or the coil. The other reason could be that the Ice scoop at the top does not throw the ice through.

I hope this explains the process, and helps you.

Kind Regards

The machine is not making ice. It makes the slab

Your unit either has a bad evaporator thermsitor (most likely) which is used to decide when to go into harvest -- or -- it has a refrigeration problem like a hot gas valve leaking past it's seat (less common but often mis-diagnosed)

If you are handy, have a multi-meter and would like futher troubleshooting assistance, write me back and I would be happy to help you. If you want me to recommend a servicer in your area give me your address (or general location).

If the unit makes a half-inch slab in about 25 to 35 minutes, I would wager the thermsitor is bad. If the slab is very uneven or takes a long time to reach one-half inch, I would wager a hot-gas valve issue.

Good-Luck, Subdriver
