Whirlpool dishwasher gu2500xtpq1. Clean light

The blinking clean light is an interruption in the dishwasher program that usually indicates a component problem or program malfunction. If a component is defective, it's usually attributed to the heating cycle or thermostat failure. To rule out component failure, or program error, the following link explains how you may be able to clear the blinking clean light problem and possibly avoid a service call:

Keep in mind all dishwashers are not alike and have different panel options. If you do not have the same set up that I have mentioned, the tech sheet for your dishwasher will explain the touch pad functions. The tech sheet is located behind the lower toe panel under the door and lists the proper sequence of buttons to push for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Just remove the screws that hold the panel in place and remove.

NOTE: Sometimes the tech sheet is located behind the inner door panel. You will need to remove the screws securing the inner panel to access it if this is the case. Make sure you turn off the main power breaker before doing so.

In many cases, I found this to be a momentary glitch in operation. If the problem keeps reoccuring the number of flashes is an indication of WHICH circuit is causing your problem. As all dishwashers differ in operation and features, refer to your tech sheet for the recommended troubleshooting steps.

NOTE: Some dishwashers use the Sani-Rinse/Air Dry combination, some use the Sani-Rinse/Heated Dry combination. Some use a sequence of three, others use a sequence of 5 pushes of the buttons. If the tech sheet is not located behind the lower toe panel, it should be affixed somewhere under the dishwasher. I have also found them located inside the inner door panel. Please post back and let me know if you still need assistance.

I have a Whirlpool GU2500XTPQ3

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa,

Based on your description as well as all you`ve done on your own I`d suspect you`re on the right track with the plugged pump suspicion.

The place to start for that is to pull the pump filter, spray arm and check for food deposit, broken glass, undesolved detergent and general water deposit built up in the sump well.

The key is to get in there and clean it all out, I`ve attached a link at the bottom that will show you how to go about it. It is not really referring to the heating issue, or maybe even your model, ( Most Whirlpool, Inglis, Kenmore, Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-Air ) but it is the same procedure.

When you`re finished run it through a test cycle and see how it goes.

Let me know how you make out and what you find.

Water standing in tub

If there is a lot of water sitting inside the applicance, it's possible that the high water float switch has been activated and is preventing the dishwasher from running. Open the door, remove the bottom rack, dip as much water out of the bottom as possible with a shallow ladle or even tupperware container. When that is accomplished, shut the door and try to run a drain cycle. If the unit won't start, you may have to remove more water. You don't have to have the rack in place to run the drain cycle.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. These kinds of noises usually come from a cracked impeller. If you want to change it yourself then unplug the power first, then start by checking the motor shaft which might have started to rust & so causes the crack in impeller. Usually replacing the impeller should resolve this issue but also make sure that the motor shaft is cleaned before the impeller is replaced. If you do it yourself then you can buy the parts from this link. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Dishwasher comes on and sounds

HI. There are two areas of concern here. The first will be the floater switch that is located on the inside, lower sump area. This cone shaped floating device becomes buoyant when the water level starts to increase, during the filling cycle. Once the floater reaches a set point, it shuts of the inlet valve. Now, if the switch is stuck in the up position, the main control will not initiate a fill. Check to make sure that the floater is setting all the way down and not stuck in the up position. If the switch is in the correct position and is able to be moved up and down, smoothly, move on to the most common cause of this issue. This will be the inlet assembly.

To access the inlet valve remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to reach the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel. The water inlet valve can be identified by the water hoses connected to it. One hose will lead from the valve to the pump/motor assembly in the center of the dishwasher. Check that the hoses are securely connected to the valve and that there are no kinks in the hoses which could restrict water flow. There are two wires (four, if it has two solenoids) connected to the water inlet valve. Label the wires and connections so that you can properly reconnect them later. The wires are connected with slip on connectors. Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals. You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If either is corroded they should be cleaned or replaced. Use a continuity tester or multimeter to test for continuity. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. A reading of infinity indicates a bad solenoid that must be replaced. Different brands and models will have various measurements, but the valve should show some resistance if it is functioning properly. If your valve has two solenoids, test the second one in the same way as the first. Replace the valve assembly if it fails this inspection.

NOT POWERING ON

If you are getting no lights no power or any sounds the first thing to check is the power to the dishwasher, make sure there are no wall switches in the kitchen that have been turned off and that the breaker has not tripped if those are fine then the most common component to fail and cause this symptom is the thermal fuse.

It is located in the console attached to the control circuit board. The fuse is about $20.00 in cost. I would have to have the complete model number off the tag just inside the dishwasher door area to give you the part number needed.

If you want to replace this part your self I would be happy to walk you through the process, a little mechanical ability some hand tools and a basic understanding of electricity is needed.
