You do not uninstall firmware. Rather, you install the relevant update. This is NOT the same as updating a printer driver. To find out if your printer has a firmware update, you go to the HP site and log in to the support for your printer. If such an update exists, it will list it. It strains the imagination that firmware for one model would work on another. I hope that answers your query.

Sept 29, 2020 - This printer has no mechanism to keep the paper from sliding backwards and this was the problem. I have discovered that there is a whole opening at the bottom ...
I don't find one online. Sometimes HP support will provide such. Baring that, there is the troubleshooting link at this site: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-deskjet-1280-printer-series/439162/manuals
And you might try downloading and running HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Or someone in the HP forum might be of assistance.
HP often has videos tackling problems. Alternatively, a YouTube site might assist regarding the specific problem you have encountered. For example after you get past the ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0MPFqLPmFA

do you still have inks left?are you able to make color copies from the printer? if your answer to both questions is yes then you may have junk files on the pc that's blocking the printer. try printing in notepad or in wordpad. if you are able to print from those, then the problem is with ms word's settings. if not, click on start,in the run or search box, type in disk cleanup and hit enter.a box will come up after disk cleanup is done with calculating how much space you will be able to free on C drive.tick all the boxes and hit ok.
Typically there is a plastic flag in the paper path that is pushed up or down by a piece of paper. That may be stuck in the detect position. The flag blocks an optical sensor (U-shaped plastic block about 3/8" wide) to signal detection. If that sensor is very dirty, it may falsely signal paper is present. Try a computer keyboard vacuum cleaner first, then a cotton swab or wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Do not use a wipe with a chloride disinfectant chemical. The sensor could be bad, or something nasty has happened to the sensor wiring. If the document feeder is detachable, check the electrical connector.

Landscape is Portrait sideways :>D
Normally you have to tell the program (Quickbooks) to print Landscape and then you tell the Printer in Properties to print Landscape.
I just had the same in Publisher to a Canon MFP MG1720.
From the QuickBooks File menu, select Printer Setup. Click the Form Name drop-down and choose Report. Click the Options button next to the Printer name field to open your printer properties window. Go to the Finishing tab and in the Orientation section, select Portrait or Landscape.
