Whirlpool calypso
the calypso washer is much older then 2 years. they stopped making them quite a few years ago. what you are seeing is how towels will come apart when washed with an aggressive washer. even expensive towels can be poorly sewn and will come apart when washed too hard. i might suggest you use the light cycle as it has a slower washing cycle speed. if you check your older and "better" towels are not doing the same thing as your new towels. i know its not fair but it is the way towels are now. you can try to remove the threads that are coming off your newer towels and then all should be ok, but there is nothing wrong with your washer just the way towels are now.

Had the water pump replaced
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
From your description it COULD be that it is struggling with drainage.
If your particular model has a filter (and not all do have) I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter- so many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters.
Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

My Whirlpool Calypso Washer, model#GVW9959KQ2,
Hello.
The Whirlpool Super Capacity Plus washing machine offers alarge capacity drum, temperature control monitoring, two-speed motor, fivewash-and-spin combinations, 10 total wash cycles, three wash temperatures, anda quiet-wash feature. The washer should function well if standard care andmaintenance is followed, but issues may occasionally occur. One such problem isif the washing machine is noisy and does not spin during use. While this mayrequire professional repair, individuals can attempt troubleshooting beforecontacting Whirlpool repair technicians for help.
Steps to follow.
1Stop the washing machine and open the lid. Take items out if the load isvery large, or move items around the washer if things have become tangled orbunched together.
2 Look for objects that mayhave gotten caught between the inner and outer tub. Turn off the washingmachine and use a pair of pliers to pull the object free.
3 Push the basket into themiddle of the unit if it seems to be off balance. This can occur duringoperation or while loading items into the drum.
4 Examine the feet on thewashing machine. All four feet should touch the floor; adjust the feet if theyare uneven.
5 Close the lid on the washingmachine and verify that it latches shut; the washer may malfunction or not spinif the washer lid is open.
6 If troubleshooting does notwork, contact a Whirlpool repair technician for assistance, as the lid switch, motor, pump belt or pulley may be broken and require professional repair.
Thanks.

You are able to select
Possible that the error seems to be with the water flow check the inlet valve for failure or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.
Check this link to replace the inlet valve:http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7/1408/how-to-replace-the-inlet-valve-on-a-washer-dr.html

My Sears Calypso washer is not draining. discharge
You really should replace the seals, gaskets and o-rings when you remove either the outer or inner wash plate or you have compromised the water tight seal for the U-Joint which drives the wash plate, and the washer will eventually fail completely (rust out the U-joint and brakes), from what the service manual warns.
These units tend to eat small articles of clothing in the gap between the wash plate and the tub, if the seal starts to wear. According to the book, the gaskets and such must also be replaced when these plates are removed to avoid the inevitable seal integrity compromise that will ruin the unit's moving parts.

We got the LD error
Hi
An LD
error indicates long drain time which means that there is either something
stuck/clogged in the pump or the pump itself has gone bad and should be
replaced. You can take it apart completely and check for impeller damage or
clogs. You have to clean it completely so make sure that you have lot of towels
ready as there will be water coming out of it when you clean the pump. Hope this helps...please post
back for further assistance.

I have a Kenmore Calypso
Hi
First
make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the
bottom of the unit, after this test the lid switch assembly, you jump it to
test it. If the lid switch is also fine then the control board should be
replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Describe your Calypso GVW9959K Top
The drain hose might been pinched or cut causing the leak but with regard to the whining noise, tub not draining, and the "Ld" error code, these symptoms indicate a problem with the drain pump. When the load starts, the pump also starts working in the recirculation direction (counterclockwise as viewed from underneath the washer) and the noise is produced by a restricted or damaged drain pump impeller. Consequently, the wash water cannot be recirculated (nor drained) prompting the machine to stop.
Drain the machine manually then lay its front on a padded floor. Remove the bottom drip pan by removing the securing screws to access the drain pump at the bottom of the machine. Check the drain pump assembly and replace it if deemed necessary.
The "ob" code stands for an out of balance condition as manifested by the wash plate (agitator) being "lopsided". The machine controller will shut down and display an "ob" for off balance when it detects an unrecoverable off-balance condition. Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display open the lid at least once before restarting the cycle. Opening the lid also allows the customer to view and redistribute the load if necessary. The wash plate may need to be remove if the "ob" code persist to check for any garment, usually the small one such as socks, probably caught under it.

I have standing water in
On that Calypso their is going to be some lint build up in the drain buildup in the drain pump causing it not to drain. If you set the drain/spin cycle about 20 times eventually the water should drain. Thier is no real way to get the water out without bailing it or vacuuming it out. When all the water finally out can take apart draim pump and remove lint build up.
