My onkyo HT RC330 will not power up at all. Have had problems past couple of months with starting it but if you played around with swith it would start. Now nothing.

Try resetting the AV receiver To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down VCR/DVR, press 8 ON/STANDBY. "Clear" will appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter Standby mode. It is possible that the protection circuitry has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall.. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and then leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect only the power cord and set the volume to maximum. If the AV receiver stays on, set then the volume to minimum, disconnect the power cord, and reconnect your speakers and input sources. If the AV receiver turns off when you set the volume to maximum, disconnect the power cord, and contact your dealer. If the standby light is lit it and the unit will not boot it is most likely that the protection circuit has been activated. If there is no standby light then check the fuses. These units check that the power supplies are operating near specification. If a capacitor or resistor in the circuit, or a broken solder connection the unit will shut down. Because of the temperature the thermal cycling around the power supplies a broken solder joint can occur. This will make for an intermittent operation. Hope this helps. 26289825-owoa52fq3dbvw0lom3ojbzgr-3-0.jpg Failed resistor or capacitor 26289825-owoa52fq3dbvw0lom3ojbzgr-3-2.jpg 26289825-owoa52fq3dbvw0lom3ojbzgr-3-5.jpg

Hook up worked a while and now shuts on and off all the time. Why? And how do we fix.

Unwire the receiver completely. Then rewire, ensuring that the speakers wires are correct. Make sure that the main power cord is properly connected. If problem persists, upgrade to new (and better) receiver. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/robert_aad3edb7dfa380b9

How do we connect our system using a Shaw PVR

Do you have a optical/coaxial input on your system? Eg: cable, TV.I use a optical input on my Yamaha ( cable, satellite ). Look to see if there is a optical/coaxial output on your pvr, there should be. Use ether the optical or coaxial output from your pvr and connect it to the cable (satellite ) optical/coaxial input on your receiver. The manual that came with your Shaw PVR should explain how. You will get 5.1 surround if available on certain channels.I prefer optical over coaxial myself, but they both work well.If you don't have optical/coaxial inputs on your receiver, you will have to use RCA cables, analogue out on cable box, to tape input or aux on your receiver. You will not get surround sound, just stereo. But it's better than nothing.

Onkyo skw 591 subwoofer...blue light is on and no sound? any thoughts?

Hello, To test the subwoofer when the blue light is on if you apply your thumb to the end of the subwoofer cable (the end that you would plug into the receiver) there should be feedback from the sub. If there is no feedback then the sub is not working correctly. Thanks, FJD

How do I hook my onkyo SKW-791powered subwoofer to my onkyo av receiver HT-R758

You need a RCA sub-woofer cable (analog mono) to connect between the receiver's sub-woofer Pre Out and the sub-woofer. This cable has a single RCA plug at each end of the cable. The cable is somewhat thicker than some audio RCA cables. You can use any RCA cable temporarily. The manual for the HT-R758 is available from Onkyo here: https://onkyousa.com/ht-r758 . The current link to the manual is https://assets.onkyo-av.com/product-manuals/HT-S6500_English_2022-11-02-204020_ivkn.pdf?v=1667421620 . See page EN-13 (page 13 of the PDF) for connecting to the subwoofer. The original package came with a 10' RCA sub-woofer cable, see page EN-1 (page 81 of the PDF) for the speaker list. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

What's the error M1.04/19912A50?

The error code M1.04/19912A50 on your Onkyo AV receiver HT-R398 typically indicates a firmware or software-related issue. To resolve this problem and reset your receiver, you can follow these steps:
  1. Power Cycle the Receiver:
    • Turn off the receiver and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 10-15 minutes to ensure that all internal components have fully powered down.
    • Plug the receiver back in and turn it on.
  2. Factory Reset:
    • If the error persists after power cycling, you may need to perform a factory reset to restore the receiver to its default settings. Note that this will erase all your custom settings, so make sure to back up any important configurations if possible.
    • To perform a factory reset, refer to your receiver's user manual for specific instructions. Typically, this involves pressing and holding specific buttons on the front panel while powering on the receiver. The exact combination of buttons may vary by model.
  3. Firmware Update:
    • Ensure that your receiver's firmware is up to date. Visit the Onkyo website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HT-R398 model. If updates are available, follow the provided instructions to update the firmware.
  4. Contact Customer Support:
    • If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it's a good idea to contact Onkyo customer support or visit their official support website. They may be able to provide specific guidance or solutions for the error code you're encountering.
Remember to consult your receiver's user manual for model-specific instructions, as the steps to reset or update firmware can vary between different Onkyo models. Additionally, be cautious when performing a factory reset, as it will erase all settings and return the receiver to its default state.
