Most of these camper units I've worked on have only 1 style of t-stat to use. Replace it with the same as what you have if possible. And check all connections to and from the t-stat. A blank screen doesn't mean the t-stat is at fault. Should have power at the stat as well as the control board.

in most cases, you have to remove the cover and it is usually located on the condensing unit.
