I suspect either you need to replace the cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) tubes or the inverter. If you have been seeing a pinkish tinge or flickering in the display, the problem is the tubes.
The hardest part of changing the inverter is getting into the display panel without breaking up the trim. The CCFL tubes are usually on the bottom edge of the display panel (look for the other end of the pink and white wires coming from the inverter). Most of the time, you can remove one or two screws and slide the tubes out of the panel along with the metal reflector. Be careful - they are very delicate and contain mercury vapor. If the ends are blackened inside, it's a good bet they are worn out. Replacing the tubes includes requires a high amount of soldering skill - you can't heat the ends for more than 4 seconds when you attach the wires. LCD Parts has the details on their
Tech Support Page. If you don't like the looks of the task, they will sell you tubes with the wires already attached.
My MT3705 is not recognizing the harddrive or dvd
If both the hard drive and DVD are not recognized then you're facing a motherboard issue. This is a common problem unfortunately. The chip that controls the operation of the DVD, hard drive, and all other peripherals (keyboard, mouse, USB ports...) is prone to lose contact with the motherboard.
To repair this problem you'll either have to get a new motherboard, or repair the one you have.
Here's a great tutorial for repairing laptop motherboards with FSB controller issue. The tutorial is for a HP laptop but the principle is exactly the same.

Hi,
Have you tried removing your battery for a minute then plug it in again?
Check also your charger if it has a voltage output using your multi-meter. the expected voltage you will read is indicated on your chargers name tag in DC volts (observe polarity).
When you press the power button does anything happens to your laptop or nothing happens at all even indicator lights?
Don't forget to rate me...
Thanks..

I had this problem going into the new year of 2011. If there are not registry editions such as Upper or Lower keys present, then try this solution because many times this is not the case as people will say. The alternative to registry editing is the following:
1) Disconnect your internal optical drive.
2) Go to the Device Manager and select
3) Under DVD/CD-ROM drives, uninstall all of your drives.
*Preferably you want to uninstall the one that is not working. But likely it won't show.
4) Select under Action menu, scan for hardware changes.
5) Place your optical drive back into your computer and then
6) Repeat step 4.
7) Next, you should see your computer checking for any hardware additions or compliant plug and play devices.
8) Check your device manager and all of your drives should automatically reinstall themselves including the one that was missing.
This worked for me and I hope it will for you.
If you want, you could try check the registry for the Upper level and lower levels, and use that method to be sure, but you likely don't need to if my method works for you.
Missing power cord
Hello
Walmart, and I am sure alot of others including online sell a power supply kit for around 70 dollars. They work with most anything.
Hope that helps
Computer freezes on startup or after having it on
As an initial solution, I would recommend checking to see if the cooling fan is running properly. Also, you could have a buildup of dust around the CPU/heat sink. A thorough cleaning to remove dust and dirt may well do the job.
Just as an aside, you haven't been overclocking the CPU, have you? That could be a problem.
